Problem with clone brush

Post by txakura »

I have no doubt this problem has been explored previously, however, I did a (broad) search for clone brush, and didn't find reference to this particular problem. It is: when I right-click on an area I want to be used to cover (eliminate) the part I want gone, and then left-click on the area to cover, instead of getting the color of the selected cover, I get a shaded grey that looks like it is being turned on and then off repeatedly. I've reset the clone brush to default more than once, and checked the image's layer(s) (just one). So... where do I go from here? Reset PSP to default? If so, where to start?

Can you show us what you're getting ? A sample would help someone here possibly find a solution.

Sounds like you might be describing the "ghosted preview" that was introduced with PSP2018. Are you not able to clone or do you just find this distracting?

If you need to do a reset to default, here are the instructions. They reference X6 but work for all versions.

If the image is a greyscale image, upgrade it to 16 million colors. The image will stay in grey shades and the clone tool will works as needed.

I guess it doesn't have to make sense, but changing a grayscale image to high-depth color does the trick. Thanks.

I believe it's a known bug with greyscale and the clone tool. Something Corel is working on.
