Clip way too short
I'm using VideoStudio10X, I imported a clip that is about 7 minutes long and around 500meg. But when I look at it's properties it is now less than one second long. I had to create this clip using Handbrake because I can not get studio to handle 4K video without being too choppy and the sound not matching up. So I converted and compressed the video from 4K to 1920. I also did this with two other videos and they worked fine, but this third one is a nightmare. I don't believe Handbrake messed anything up because I can play the video just fine in a media player. This is just nuts! Hopefully someone has run across this before.

Re: Clip way too short
Did you try the original 4K clip in X10 but using SmartProxy?
You also don't give us much info about your computer. Maybe it is just not powerful enough to play 4K video smoothly...?

Re: Clip way too short
I've tried the smart proxy, didn't help at all. My computer plays the 4K video just fine in Windows Media Player and the specs are as follows. So I don't think that's the issue.
Intel Core I5-4690 CPU, @ 3.50GZ, with 12GB of RAM

Re: Clip way too short
I've added those computer specs to your Profile, though you might want to adjust the hard disk size.
Have you tried converting the problem clip again in either Handbrake or another converter program? Or can you upload the clip to a site like Dropbox or One Drive where we can download it and test it ourselves?

Re: Clip way too short
I eventually took the whole 4K clip and rendered it to 1920 in VideoStudio with another name. It will render fine, once I had the 1920 version I then imported it back into VS and could edit it fine without issues. But, I had to give up the 4K resolution.
Another thing I noticed is that if the 4K clip is fairly short, it seems to play and edit OK. Example, I put one 39 second clip into the timeline and it was fine, then I put a 1 minute and 37 second clip ( 1:37) and it struggled to play. So the length or size of the clip seems to have something to do with it in the edit mode. Even if I wait for the proxy to complete it seems to make no difference on bigger clips.

Rendered as FHD 1080p?bglendi wrote:I eventually took the whole 4K clip and rendered it to 1920
I edit 4K clips much longer than that. What do you mean that "it struggled to play"?bglendi wrote:I put a 1 minute and 37 second clip ( 1:37) and it struggled to play.

Re: Clip way too short
Playing the clip during editing in the timeline is choppy and even out of sync with the sound. It's like it plays every tenth frame or something, very hard to edit when you don't know where you are really at in the clip.. The clips play fine in Windows Media Player or any other player, but playing them in X10 they are choppy and impossible to watch.

No, you have been asked to provide a sample clip for members to test, if you can upload to dropbox or onedrive then we may be able to help

Re: Clip way too short
I've already converted the clip to 1920 and trashed the 4K version. As far as I am concerned VS10X cannot handle 4K video. At this point I could only send a newly created 4K video that does not play correctly in VS10X, but will play correctly with every other media player. As for the "short clip" it was an original 4K clip that I compressed in Handbrake down to 1920 x 1080, it was 7:58 long and was 460mg after compression. When I pulled it into the media folder and tried to play it in the viewer it play for less than one second. I compressed that same 4K clip 3 more times and it did the same thing, each and every time.
At this point I'm more concerned about why VS10X will not play a 4K video in the viewer so it can be edited. I've sent information to Corel Tech Support via email, but have not had any real response to the issue in the past 6 days.

Re: Clip way too short
I've had this happen a few occasions in editing. I've not been able to get a specific set of instructions to replicate it, and it's annoying.
Essentially VS has somehow reduced the length of a clip to a few frames. I've found out the hard way that it's there when I'm adding a transition. At first, because it was literally a few frames and I was zoomed out, I didn't know what the problem was.
The only way around it was to delete the corrupted clip from the timeline, save the project & exit VS. Reload VS & the project and re-add the clip to the timeline.
I've had this with both VS Ult. X10 & VS 2018 Ult.
p.s. I did attempt to resize the clips, but this just didn't want to work.
p.p.s. I had this with 1080 content

Re: Clip way too short
I appreciate the feedback. I have tried all that. I even copied the original clip to a different location and renamed it, then brought it back into the timeline or storyboard. Didn't help.
I also sent an MP4 video to VS Tech Support to show them in real time what I was going through, and got no response. So I made a decision to buy someone else's software and I have not had a problem with any 4K videos.
So Corel, if you're support is going to be that bad, expect people to leave.
