How can I change the color of the background in an image?

I'm making a custom wallpaper using a Microsoft Visual C++ Logo. I already have the logo and everything looks quite good when I place the logo on a blank white background. But when I load it as my desktop wallpaper I'm thinking that the white comes on a little too bright and white looking. So I got some color codes for Vanilla and I changed the background to look more like on off white Vanilla.

But the problem is the background white behind the Visual C++ logo is stark, bright white and you will see from my screenshot what the problem is.

So is there a way I can edit the stark, bright background in the Visual C++ logo to be same same color as my Vanilla desktop background?

I think PSP is pretty darn easy you just have to know where the tools are. And that's easily done with a quick video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QY_bJy ... LK69I/view

In fact I'm pretty sure the color replacer tool does the exact same thing that plugin does.

Here are the options from the video written out.

Option 1: - The hardest one
1) Set the background color on your materials palette to the color you want
2) Grab the Magic Wand tool, use the following settings: Mode: Replace Match Mode; Color Tolerance: 0 Contiguous: Off Feather: 0 Anti-Alias: on
3) Click on the white background to create a selection
4) HIt the delete key to fill with the background color

Option 2:
1) Set Offwhite as foreground color and White as your background color
2) Select "Color Replacer" from the toolbar.
3) On the tool options palette click the "Replace All Pixels button" (it's a little hard to see so watch the video)

Option 3:
1) Set offwhite as foreground color and White as your background color
2) Select the "Color Changer" from the toolbar
3) Click on the white area of the image.

Place your image with white background on a layer above the vanilla background.
Set this (white background) Layer mode to Multiply and it is done !

You may also try this Suz Shook's script
The purpose of this script is to remove any color from an image, much like the Eliminate White and Eliminate Black filters do. This script has more flexibility than those filters, because it allows you to remove ANY color from an image.

Well first I tried the first suggestion as outlined by the guy in the video. It didn't work. But I decided to temporarily abandon the Visual C++ Wallpaper idea and try to change the background color on a Python logo. I used the Replace Color Tool and only the right portion of the background got changed to the off white. Of course I will say that with this Python logo the background is kinda graduated. As you can see the background on the left is darker than the background on the right so I imagine I have to do something else to make this work.

I've enclosed a screenshot of what happened. Not sure how to fix it.

What I see is you don't work with layers.
Somme suggestions we made are invoking layers.

Multiply does not work as well because it darkens all non white pixels . It multiplied the values of the pixels in the top layer by the values of the pixels in the lower layer and divides by 255.
If top layer is a and bottom layer b and considering only the red channels for each pixel
layer a = R 255, Layer b = R255
255 x 255 / 255 = 255 so pixel value is unchanged - this meanss if the Green and blue are also 255 (all three = 255 = white ) then there is no change to a white pixel

for a mid pixel a =R 128 , b = R 128 then 128 x 128 /255 = approx 64 so that pixel is darkened.

for a dark pixel a = R 0 , b= R 0 then 0 x 0 / 255 = 0 so if the blue and green are also 0 then there is no change in all three and resultant color is black

So Multiply leaves coresponding white and black pixels alone but darkens all others.

In the case of Darken the corresponding pixel values for each channel on layer a and layer b are compared and the darkest one used. This is the lowesrt value pixel in each case.
So for the white area of the logo the values for a pixel are R 255, G 255, B 255 and for the vanilla colored pixel above it R 251, G 244, B 225. So when it compares the red channel 255 v 251 the 251 wins so the effect is theto change all white areas to R 251, G 244, B 225. ie white becomes vanilla.

It is a translation problem in my French version : "Darken" is "Assombrir" in French and this is the word Corel used for the Burn mode ! ! ! !
