Do I have to uninstall previous versions to upgrade to Photo Impact 13?

Hi
yes, you can only install one version of Photo Impact, so the older version will be uninstalled.

Re: Photo Impact 13
I uninstalled Photoimpact pro & reinstalled it to see if it eliminated the problem of Text crashing the program. NO GOOD. I purchased version 13 thinking I would update the program but didn't install it yet because there were no directions included and there is no support from Nova/Corel and was worried it would be worse or if I uninstalled the Pro version I would be left with nothing. There are some directions on the web:
PhotoImpact suddenly crashes when you try to use the Text Tool.
Fix: This happens when Windows detects or miss-interprets the code being run by PhotoImpact to be malicious when in fact it is not. Please follow this procedure to solve this issue: 1. Open "Control Panel" from the "Start" menu. 2. Double-click or open "System" (in Classic View). This will open the "System Properties" dialog box. You can also open the "System Properties" dialog box by right clicking on "My Computer" then selecting "Properties". 3. Go to the "Advanced" tab and click on the [Settings] button under the "Performance" section. 4. Go to the "Data Execution Prevention" tab. 5. Choose the second option which is "Turn on DEP for all except..." 6. If PhotoImpact is still not on the list, click on [Add] then browse for the PhotoImpact executable file from the "Program Files". 7. Apply the changes then click "Ok".
But this didn't help. There are lots of posts about the problem so I'm not the only one. I do love this program and hate to lose it.

Re: Photo Impact 13
Hi
I have PI X3 installed on Windows 10 and do not have this problem.
If you try to install X3 I think it will prompt you to uninstall the older version, then you can install X3.
You could try running PI with Run as Administrator, right click the PI thumbnail for options
Other than that and a re- install I do not know what else to suggest.

Every time I try to use the TEXT tool my program crashes. I have photo impact pro v. 10 and purchased photo impact 13 thinking an upgrade would fix the problem but it didn't. Now I have 2 photo impact programs that crash.

Hi Jefschil
And welcome to the forums
Although the forums are created by Corel we do not work for Corel
As such we are volunteers helping to run the forums and help others with problems.
And where are we, all over the world covering the forums day and night, well we try to do that.
Is there any specific reason to post to this forum rather than the Forum Chat topics?

Re: Photo Impact 13
I think this is a lost cause. Millions of people out there still use this program but there's no assistance from Corel. Whenever I use the text tool on photoimpact the program crashes.
I have to use other programs and will never use Corel again.

I run X3 on Windows 10 and do not have a problem using the text tool
I do not think there was a service pack for X3, my version shows as 13.00.0000.0
Your profile shows using Windows 7 is that correct.
As you are having problems with both versions i would think its a pc problem, I know you did not wish to hear that.
Have you checked that you are using the most upto date drivers for your graphics card.
