2019 version-The program seem to have a ton of bugs. Have found it pretty much unusable on Win10 i7-8750H 32 GB ram. So my answer would be nothing...hopefully they get all the bugs fixed

Interesting comment. I have found it to be far more stable and fewer bugs than other versions, using similar system to yours.calif909 wrote:2019 version-The program seem to have a ton of bugs. Perhaps you could be more specific about exactly what bugs you are finding in 2019. It's impossible for us - or Corel - to determine if any fixes are necessary or workarounds available when you haven't provided any information about what specifically we should be looking for.calif909 wrote:2019 version-The program seem to have a ton of bugs. Re: What Do You Like About PSP2019?
And is that a long ton, short ton or a tonne
I would describe a program as pretty much unusable if it would not run at all, or once started it froze or crashed each time I chose a tool or loaded an image.
Is that what you are experiencing?
What are you using it for? - graphics , vector images , photos?Have found it pretty much unusable

The only important bug I found up to now is the cropping tool and this is fixed in 21.1.022

Re: What Do You Like About PSP2019?
Which "bug" in the crop tool are you referring to? I was only aware of the various modifications that were made to that tool since the 2018 version (and Corel considers them features and not bugs), and most of them made things worse and some of them, to my knowledge, have not be changed back to a usable state.tanecn wrote:The only important bug I found up to now is the cropping tool and this is fixed in 21.1.022

Re: What Do You Like About PSP2019?
The bug was this (but is fixed with Update 1):
After performing the crop the remaining content is changed (screwed up) in brightness and contrast in the resulting image. A user here reported in another thread that this was due to an automatic "improvement" which can be switched off but is on by default. Look to the "PSP 2019 Update1 fails" thread for further details:

No it's this thread: viewtopic.php?f=56&t=64240

Re: What Do You Like About PSP2019?
I like that I can improve the pictures (JPGs) from my Nikon DSLR cameras with few clicks. I almost select the adjustments "Fill Light/Clarity", "Local Tone Mapping" or "Histogram Adjustment", depending on image appearance, some times saturation "vibrancy", few times "White Balance" (Nikon is great in white balance). Quite often the "Smart Selection Brush" for local enhancements (e.g. faces in backlight) or removal of unwanted objects. Its all very quick and simple to use. I think there is no significant difference here to the 2018 version but I update once a year as confirmed habit
. May be I use only few percentage of the PSP capabilities since slight image enhancements is all I need most of the time.

That means it was not a bug but a feature that was on by default but could be turned off. They have now made that "feature" off by default.tanecn wrote:The bug was this (but is fixed with Update 1):

Re: What Do You Like About PSP2019?
I still have PSP7, and Affinity Photo 1.6, but I do all my cropping in PSP 2018.
PSP has a dynamite Crop tool. I don't know when it got this good, but it's great. I like how you can choose an aspect ratio -- and there are lots of them. I also like how one crops to an additional image (now, for the Save As, how about an option to name the supplementary image the same as the original with a number appended?). I like how the orientation of the crop can easily be swapped for one at right angles. I like how the Crop aspect ratio take up the full width of the image, even when the right-angle crop has been toggled. I like how the Crop stops at the edge of the image. And I want to give kudos on how the Crop tool has evolved with time.
Two ways the Crop Tool could evolve: make an option to rotate the tool or the image; make an option to snap the image back to center -- or not.

Affinity Photo is better than PSP in literally every way, while being cheaper and cross platform. I can't, in good faith, even recommend this product to anyone considering Affinity is out there and Photoshop Elements does "easy mode" MUCH better without the compatibility problems that PSP has.ehume wrote:I still have PSP7, and Affinity Photo 1.6, but I do all my cropping in PSP 2018.

They need to focus on the underpinnings of the application. "Lipstick on a pig" doesn't really do much for me.

I have PSE 10 and trialled PSE 2018. I don't like their menu structure. In PSP, I like how the tools are arranged with easy access to changes.iNate wrote:Affinity Photo is better than PSP in literally every way, while being cheaper and cross platform. I am still learning on Affinity, but PSP strikes me as having more features and greater functionality. That said, when my daughter needed to leave the Adobe ecosystem so she could work directly in Raw, I pointed her to Affinity. She liked it, and it was 30% off ($35). Not bad for a PSP competitor.

Definitely a good idea! There are so many images now done with phone cameras at an angle that need to be both cropped and rotated.ehume wrote:Two ways the Crop Tool could evolve: make an option to rotate the tool or the image; make an option to snap the image back to center -- or not.
In that regard it would be good to be able to manually set a rotation angle. I do a lot of cleaning up of old scanned documents such a census records. Neither Make Horizontal nor Make Vertical works properly because the lines on the underlying image are not truly perpendicular. As a result the rotation has to be set manually for a compromise. That can be done with Free Rotate but it would be nice to combine it with cropping as suggested.

I like that. Redundancy is good. I hate to say it, but MS uses redundancy: there is usually more than one to do a job.Rick_R wrote:Definitely a good idea! I'm not sure if I understand your suggestion, but the rotation angle can be entered manually see below.Rick_R wrote:In that regard it would be good to be able to manually set a rotation angle.
