"Out of memory" then shutdown of VS9
I have been trying to fix a problem for many days. I can only operate VS9 in the timeline for about one minute before I receive and "out of memory" message, then the program terminates. I have reinstalled VS9 many times, following the procedure sent out by Ulead. I have switched all my video clips over to my second drive, with the program and swap file on C:. I have rendered out any other file formats such as MOV, WMV and others to MPEG format with only a few BMP and WAV files. The program is no longer than 15 minutes at this point. I have done a System File Restore and also replaced my KERNEL32.DLL file manually with a backup of exactly the same number. I believe I am experiencing a memory leak of some kind because when I monitor my 1.5 GB of memory, as soon as I start playing back the video in the timeline the memory drops to 0%. I really need help with this situation. Any advice from others who have had this problem would be a help since I am in the middle of this project when this began to happen. I have updated VS9 with the new patch, have a program that defrags the swapfile on bootup, and I have defraged the video drive.

You may have a corrupt video clip in the timeline. To find out which one, do a binary search as follows:
(1) Divide the project timeline in half by deleting all the the clips in the upper half. If only one clip is left, GoTo (6)
(2) SaveAs this version of the project with a new name.
(3) See if the problem persists.
(4) If so, go to (1)
(5) if NOT, reload the prior project file and delete all the clips in the lower half. If more than one clip is left, GoTo(3).
(6) Remove said clip from the full project timeline and see if all is well. If so, you are done. If not, the problem is something else.
Odds are good that you would find one bad clip in a project of 511 clips in 9 such steps.
Good Luck,
John
