Installed PSP 2019 fine, but not all is rosy.

I bought the special upgrade using the offer that exists when you click the little "home" icon in the middle top screen of version 2018. Version 2019 appears like 2018 and worked fine for me without issues.

Not so for the extras that you can download. The PicToPainting download will only install if you install both the 32 and 64 bit versions of PSP 2019. I really only wanted to install the 64 bit PSP version. I wasted sometime to figure this out. The Athentech Perfectly Clear plugin wont install at all. The one that Corel linked to in the email with all the other free downloads is for the same version and is also the same size as the one that was supplied for PSP 2018 last year. It is hard coded to only install in version 2018. More time wasted.

On top of all that, with their claim of all new supported cameras, it doesn't take raw files from Fujifilm X100F where Affinity, Luminar, Irfanview and FastStone Image viewer do. This camera is already over year old. So get with it Corel.

I installed using the recommended settings and have the 32 and 64 bit versions. This allows you to use the 64 bit plugin version of Perfectly clear version 3.5 and also to use the many 32 bit versions of other plugins.
The files did not have the 32 bit version of Perfectly Clear (different interface from 3.5) but I solved that by going to my 2018 PSP and finding the plugins at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2018\PlugIns\EN copying the PerfectlyClearforPSP folder and then pasting that into

C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2019\PlugIns\EN

and now Perfectly clear works with the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of PSP2019 (but different interfaces).

Or you could also just place that file location
C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2018\PlugIns\EN into your File > Preferences > File Locations > Plugins section so that PSP2019 uses the PSP2018 location to work Perfectlyclear.
Note that using the location method means that should you uninstall PSP 2018 then you lose that file location whereas copying the actual folder actually puts the plugin in the 2019 system.

I believe that's because v.3.5 is only 64bit with no 32bit version. The last 32bit version, if I remember courrectly, was v.2.X of Perfectly Clear.

Make sure you are in the Complete workspace and not Essentials. You can change from Essentials to Complete via File - Workspaces.

Are you seriously suggesting that the Essentials workspace doesn't even have an option to set File Locations, which is kind of essential?

Correct and I agree with you. Essentials was supposed to make things easier for newbies but it seems to create more confusion.

Take a look; no File Locations in Preferences.

I've said it before and I'll say it again! Corel's decision to implement an "Essentials" workspace, and particularly make it the default when installed, is one of the least thought out and, IMHO, completely useless implementations they have ever come up with. It creates nothing but confusion for beginning users because they think lots of features that Corel advertises don't work - and even some not-so-new users don't realize they are starting with a crippled workspace. And experienced users don't use it anyway because they can start with the Complete workspace and then, with customization, just remove stuff they never use if they want to "unclutter" the workspace.

And then, of course, there's their other idiotic decision to change how the Crop tool works. And from what I've heard they haven't fixed that - or at least made it an option - with 2019 despite the numerous criticisms and requests for change!

It would be nice if their programmers didn't try to second-guess what actual users want. But instead they seem to simply implement stuff they come up with in their dreams.

JoeB

It IS kinda crazy, but thank you, you answered my question. Any similar issues I have where I can't find an option I'll make sure I'm in Complete workspace.
