VSX10, Windows 10
I'm trying to align overlay track items to events in the base track. In other video editors I've seen timeline markers that you can set to later snap items to as you stretch or move items in tracks.
Does video studio have a way to do that? I see that "Chapters" can show up in the timeline. Should I set up a DVD / BluRay disk so that I can do chapters at the right places? Or is there another way to do this?
Thanks,
wg

Re: Timeline markers?
Unfortunately Chapter/Cue points cannot be anchored to objects, i.e. ripple editing doesn't apply to them (see viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63719).windygamer wrote:In other video editors I've seen timeline markers that you can set to later snap items to as you stretch or move items in tracks.
I don't think that VS has the feature that you're referring to.

Chapter markers work very nicely
Well, if you go to the Share / DVD - or BluRay - and set chapter points where you need markers, then when you go back to Edit mode, the chapter points appear in the timeline as Green Markers, and you can drag overlay track items, or audio track items I presume, and they snap to the markers. Both dragging the item, or resizing the item both snap to the chapter markers. For example if you drop a PNG into the overlay track to exclude some portion of the video - maybe a chat box in a game captured video for privacy reasons - then you can easily exclude the chat box by just resizing the PNG image to cover the chat box and drag the end of the box to the next chapter mark.
This is a very difficult and time consuming problem if you use video filters and chroma key masking to do it.
Chapter markers and the overlay track works like a charm.
