Fred, it's a tough Q, the optimum file size is to evaluate:Fred_Smith wrote:Any update? I'm kinda getting the hang of doing screen captures but the resulting files are still enormous. Is 75MB normal for a 4:10 video saved as WMV at 1280x720, 30p, 10Mbps?
Does "10 Mbps" really mean 10 MB per second of video? Clearly not or my 4-minute video would be 2400MB in size.
What can I do to get that file size down? Most videos I create are hosted on a Learning Management System (LMS) platform, the user would be streaming the video.
1) how good your clients internet service is
2) How detailed your videos needs to be (talking heads vs software screens menus)
3) How many streams you need to stream simultaneously
Surly 75Mb for 720p 250sec video is a lot.
Go to YT and find something with same content as yours, If the QT is acceptable by you, download the file and check it's properties. This will give you your reference point to start.
Check this guy's 270sec video

The 720p version is ~17MB the 1080 is ~28MB

Re: Best way to control file size?
OK I've been using the software for a while now and I figured some things out.
WebEx, the source for my recordings, was outputting a dismal 8 fps. VS only supports a minimum of 15 fps so it was effectively duplicating every frame multiple times which was bloating the file size.
WebEx has since upgraded <snicker> to 11 fps so it's not as bad but it's not Corel's fault and I'm not doing anything wrong.
