Hello and welcome to the forum. I'm going to assume you are talking about PSP 2018 as that is the most current version.
The text looks fine on your image. If the text is doing as you say, try resetting the text tool as shown below.
If that doesn't work you could try resetting PSP to default. Directions here https://support.corel.com/hc/en-us/arti ... figuration
