Star wars text effect - Controlling text speed
Greetings,
I am trying to implement the star wars text intro.
According to instructions, I have created a project just with the scrolling text. It is set to 20 seconds and the speed is just what I want. I then save this to a vsp file.
However, when I open my main project and insert the above vsp, resize, skew the top etc, the text is running at twice the speed. The tried fiddling with the speed options but all the text disappears when I do that.
Why is my text going twice as fast when I import it and how do I control the speed?
Thanks

Re: Star wars text effect - Controlling text speed
Hi David
I have to say I have never used the option to nest my VSP in another project to set my Text / Title clips.
Is there a reason in doing that.?
Why don’t you simply create the title in your main project?
Can you point me in the direction of those instructions that indicates nesting to do this?
Can you attach the VSP with the single text clip, you will have to rename that by adding .txt, that will allow you to attach the file.
example, "my title.vsp.txt"
Post updated
Have you tried the Boris Graffiti from the FX library?
Or
BCC title studio
Both have a Star Wars effect

Thanks - cant find the link and I though it was a bit strange to save the vsp then include it in the overlay. Ill give the direct approach a go with waht youve suggested.

Was this the tutorial you used dmz
https://learn.corel.com/tutorials/creat ... fb951-dd86
but the only way to slow down the scrolling text is to make the clip longer - you say it was 20 seconds when you made it - is it still 20 seconds after you have nested it

Interesting - I click on the Boris Graffiti in my fx section and VS closes down!
Is there a reliable step by step instruction on how to do the star wars text thing properly?
Thanks

Re: Star wars text effect - Controlling text speed
I also tried customising the filter when selecting boris or newblue and the options are so overwhelming that I cannot work out what to do.
Any detailed user guides for these effects?

Re: Star wars text effect - Controlling text speed
Hi David
Sorry you are having problems running Boris graffiti
Can you try a couple of things
Re-install the Bonus Features from your download files
\64bit\BonusFeature
Locate “setup_Bonus.exe”
Double click to run
Reset your program by re-naming the 21.0 folder to “21.0_old”
You may wish to export your library before resetting the program.
StarWars effect
There are a few tools we can use to do this
I have attached a VSP, please save and rename removing the .txt. Should open using 2018, hopefully you can see the effects
The first two clips are the basic text editor, then BCC and Boris
Working with the filters BCC and Boris is a bit of a learning curve and I am no expert, just tinkered from time to time.
You should be able to do most things with the basics rather than the advanced mode.

Hello Trevor,
sorry to butt in but the subject matter was of interest.
I downloaded your file and then renamed it by removing the .txt.
However when I try to open this with VS2018, the programme crashes (just closes without any message)
Just noticed that the saved file appears to be titled Bcc %2B Graffiti - Copy.VSP

Re: Star wars text effect - Controlling text speed
Hi
sorry about that, we do seem to be experiencing some problems in sharing VSP files from PC to PC?
I have saved the VSP for an earlier version, I am hoping doing that will allow 2018 to open the project file. If this file does not open, i will create another without BCC or Boris, just the basic Text editor.
I do not want to continue sending files that are gonna crash your program, but as far as i no, there is no permanent damage.

That works just fine.
It still saves with a %2B instead of the + sign.

Re: Star wars text effect - Controlling text speed
Im a bit confused about this Boris thing. If I click FX in my library panel, I get two icons - BCC Title Studio and Boris Graffiti 7.0. However If I select Boris from the drop down box, all I see is BCC Title Studio.
Maybe this is my problem - one is perhaps a hangover from previous version of VS? Ive always uninstalled previous versions but maybe its left stuff around?
So is BCC Title studio the real Boris?

Re: Star wars text effect - Controlling text speed
Hi David
Boris Graffiti can be accessed via the FX Specials library, this tool has been part of Video Studio for a while, It also created/added Instant Projects which I must admit to overlooking, you will find a preset for starwars effect.
BCC Title Studio is indeed a Boris product, and that seems to cause confusion. This was introduced I believe with X10
There is also the 3DTE (new to 2018) accessed from the tool bar immediately above the timelines, another Title editor, similar to Corels Motion Studio 3D program
And then there is the original Title Editor accessed via the “T” on the vertical tool bar.
So yes you could argue that there are too many options, each to their own I suppose
I tend to use the original editor, “T” and for what I need does a good job.
So I guess you have to choose which is best for you, and that means trying them
I have not compared quality of say the star wars effect when using these different tools other than the VSP I provided earlier.
Hope that helps

Re: Star wars text effect - Controlling text speed
Hi David
Ok lets first explore the basic “T” text editor
Try this……………….
1 / Select the “T” from the vertical tool bar
2 / As the preview screen indicates Double Click Here
3 / A cursor will show on the preview screen, start typing some words, it reacts similar to a word editor
To the right -- we can change the font size and type.
4 / Reduce the font size to allow for more characters.
5 / type a few rows
6 / To the right are Alignment options- hit the middle button
7 / click on timeline to insert text clip.
That is a static Text box
Animate
To the right choose the attributes tab
1 / Animation – tick Apply
2 / Change Drop to Fly
3 / There are some pre-sets, the first is the “fly up” option
We can manually customise the effect – press the “TT” symbol
Have a look at the settings within this panel.
The fly is a little flat so we need to change the text size as the characters appear to fly away into the screen, to do this I used Customise Motion.
4 / Now open the project file I provided earlier.
The first two clips were set using the above process.
Have a look at how I constructed the effects
For Customise Motion, right click the clip and choose Customise Motion, here you will see how I arranged the frame into a trapezium.

Re: Star wars text effect - Controlling text speed
Thanks heaps! I realise I had to set the trapezium at both the start and end key frames.
It does the trick.
