Where do Smart Collections look?

Does anyone know: Where does a Smart Collection search, in Windows? The My Pictures folder and below? The entire system? Other?

In any folder added to the collections area. If a folder or image has not been added to your management database smart collections won't look for them. It uses the database created by PSP.
