Unerase not working right PSP 2018

Forgive me if this has been addressed already but I can't find it in a quick search. What I have been used to doing in past versions is when I use the background eraser tool with find edges I sometimes see that an area has been erased that shouldn't have been after I switch to the eraser tool. Instead of undoing many steps and redoing it, I have been using the eraser tool with the left mouse button to unerase the area I wanted to remain visible. This is not working in 2018. The eraser tool seems to forget the pixels that I erased with the background eraser so nothing happens. Is this something that has been changed, a bug, or something I can fix in the settings? I know I can use Smart Edge with the eraser tool but it's terrible at picking out edges, way worse than the background eraser.

They attempted to "improve" the eraser tool in 2018. Now the eraser will only unerase changes it has made itself during the current use. This has the benefit of allowing you to erase an already transparent area and then restore it to normal without creating that ugly black background and hard edge effect. But it has the downside that it won't unerase transparency that happened in previous erasures or transparency created from other commands. Corel has been complained to. We'll see if they decide to restore previous functionality.
