Cannot burn project in VS Ultimate 2018
I am unable to burn a DVD or Blue-ray disc in either of my burners when using VideoStudio Ultimate 2018. I had no problem doing this using X10. I get a message saying "The burner is busy for another application." I uninstalled X10 and 2018, and then re-installed 2018 (had to pay twice for the Blue-ray feature.) I am still getting the same message, and cannot go any further. Has anyone experienced this, and how did you fix?

Hi Jesse
And welcome to the forums
I noticed this is a duplicate post, to stop any confusion I have deleted the first post, and sorry for any delay in our reply
I do not really know why you should have problems with 2018 and not X10
I think your best option is to report this to Corel Support
We do not work for Corel, simply volunteers helping run the forums.
I am about to install 2018 so will check my burner process to see if there is a problem.
As a test, for DVD if you choose to create a Disc Image ISO, does that work?
Then from Tools – Burn from disc image should burn the ISO to disc.
It’s a good option as we can play the iso using VLC Media player to check quality before burning the disc, can avoid making those coasters.
There were some programs in the past that could take control of the drives, Nero and InCd comes to mind. But if it is another program conflicting then I would have thought X10 would also suffer.
As for Bluray, I know it is only a small amount but there was / is an option from Video Studio – Help – Restore purchase that should have allowed you to use Bluray.
If you do contact Corel Support, mention that and see if you can get a refund?

Re: Cannot burn project in VS Ultimate 2018
Thanks, Trevor.
I just reported the issue to Corel Support this morning. I should hear from them hopefully in the next day or two.
I really don't know how to create a Disc Image ISO. Would I do that from "Share" after I have completed editing and authoring the project in VS Ultimate 2018?
Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Cannot burn project in VS Ultimate 2018
Hi Jeff
A Disc Image ISO is a copy of the DVD content, it is an ISO file.
This can be played using VLC Media Player, the playback will also include the menu, just like playing a disc.
From the final page deselect “Create to Disc”
Select “ Create disc Image”
Choose a save location
When saved, assuming you have VLC Media Player installed, right click iso and choose play with VCL
We can use Video Studio Tools – Burn from Disc Image, does that work for you.
Or Windows 10 had the option to burn ISO to disc, so far I have not found that on my pc.
Maybe they have removed that.
A small program called ImgBurn would burn the iso to disc.
Interesting if these programs would do the job?
Oh a long shot
Can you run Video Studio “ Run with Administrator “ see if that changes things?

Re: Cannot burn project in VS Ultimate 2018
Thanks, Trevor. I was able to create a disc image iso and then burn that to BlueRay. This work-around worked, albeit I would still like to be able to use the program the way it is designed. On the other hand, as you said, making as iso file first makes it possible to catch changes before wasting a disc.
I have contacted Corel Support, and they gave me a fix which has not worked (do a clean boot). Hopefully they will find the issue, but in the meantime I will use your recommendation of making a disc image iso and burning that.
Thanks for your help,
Jeff
