In 1979 I bought a TRS-80 Model I computer. There were CIGs (computer interest group) for each special interest (like TRS-80 users.) You went to meetings to find the guy who knew about printers and wouldn't mind a phone call with stupid newbie questions. It was an each-one-teach-one kind of thing. Help files? Ha. No. You had to find the guy who had been-there-did-that.

I find this forum marvelous and quickly responsive. My, how times have changed... for the better. Thank you all.

Yes nowadays within 24 hours of posting your problem you can receive answers from right around the world - really marvellous. It is a little disapointing though that many people have not even just put a rough location in their profile so that it appears in the panel to the left then we could really see just how widespread a community we are.
