VS 2018 SP3 is now available

VS 2018 SP3 is now available. The update for me was from VS 21.2.0.113 to VS 21.3.0.141.

There was no readme about what is fixed but I hoping that the instability whilst rendering has been addressed.

I'm not a happy camper! I downloaded and installed SP3 on my 21.2.0.113. Now I cannot open VS! I get a message saying the correct path cannot be found or I'm not authorized to use it... Get the same when I try to use 'Run As Administrator"...

Am now starting the long process of uninstalling and reinstalling.

Fortunately the installation worked fine for me but there is no indication of what issues this SP addresses. Without this information it's unclear why anyone should install it.

Totally uninstalled, including manual wiping of remnant files in Program Files and Program Files (x86). Reinstallation process automatically included SP3.

I have also asked developers for the list of fixes in SP3.

Here's the list of fixes given to me by the developers -- 24 in all:

mp4 video crashes Video Studio
Panasonic clips will have frozen preview, or green artifacts
Add rotate support for 360 double fisheye
Show grid lines, timeline preview fails
Watermark when ProDAD Mercalli applied
Split Screen: Edit template and save, VS crash after a few minutes
Newblue packs from IPP will not be listed
Trial: Error message in DVD burn if clips on overlay track
MCE performance problems after SP2 applied
Unable to change Title color when Library and Options panels are open
Morphing: lines / points are changed after reopening Customize
Can't open SplitScreen in VS 21.5
Content Template not displayed after purchase / installation
Logitech Camera settings revert to default after capture
No audio in MOV even if QT installed
MCE: all camera views show the same source
3D Title Editor controls lost when resize
Split Screen editor controls lost when resize
"Unexpected File Format" error, when edit a new 3D Title
Track content misaligned after moving playhead
Can't save customized layout
Save as compatible with older version, can't open that project in the older version
Please update cleanup tool for VS 2018

for sp2 has not been fixed - the response for sp3 is the same as I reported for sp2, and Nick Glus acknowledged in that thread he could replicate it.

I've also brought this queer response to update up several times in other places - that unless fixed out of cycle eg by a hot fix - the same thing would happen when the next sp was released. No hotfix has happened, and the experience reported for sp2 has repeated with sp3. Further, there's no mention of it in the fix list Ken published today, so it seems that this is going to go on, and on, and . . . you get the idea.

Choosing update got my internet data switch activity light running hot, but otherwise NO indication in VS that anything was happening. Attached is the message window I got AFTER the data switch activity light had finished flashing with the download activity, AND then the 2nd VS2018 start after choosing update.

Sigh. This is something that will affect every VS user - old hand or newbie, already posted about it here. Sometimes Corel seems to go out of it's way to convince it's non-tech users that the program is broken, when a little attention after an alert would make a world of difference.

Once you install the update, if you want to save a copy of the update for later it's location is:

C:/Users/(YourUserName)/AppData/Local/Corel/VideoStudio2018

I had not realised that location saved the SP’s, but only seems to be for 2018?

I've recently installed SP3 to my CVS 2018 and shortly after HEVC video extension from the Microsoft Store.

Now whatever i try to encode in any format looks like poorly compressed 640x480 movie upscaled to match higher resolution. I.e. if I encode 2160p in h264 or h265 movie subtitles are sharp and in proper resolution but the movie below looks like PC movie form 90-ties 640x480 with large pixels and strange mosaic dithering. Encoding process is very fast and it looks like source movies goes to encoder in low res, no matter in how good quality was original sources.

I'm not sure what causes this effect - SP3 or installing HEVC video extension from the Microsoft Store. Anyway It was not possible to encode h265 before I install this extension on my hardware (which of course should support it).

I have just uninstalled the program to do a clean install
But as far as i know -- NO--
We are unable to move clips within the media library, as that has not been fixed i assume the date order has not been fixed.

But you can apply the SP3 and let us know your findings
