I've been trying to use the scripts with PSP 2023. Doesn't seem to work - unless I'm doing something wrong.
The script says it is done but when I check in the file locations preference the locations have not changed...
It's a different issue along the same lines... I am having similar issues manually changing the file locations. One problem is that when I try to change the location of several file types - after a variable number (3 to 5) the program crashes. But even not crashing, if I change the locations for even one single file type - the locations don't change (I close and reopen PSP and check file location preferences and they have not changed.
The locations do not seem to have been stored in the Registry in this version as was the case previously. I've deleted the keys containing the 'offending' locations but this does not remove the location from the preferences. They much have changed it (?) for some reason - not obvious to me.

Re: Script - Backup File Locations
It does store the file locations in the registry. The location is Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Corel\PaintShop Pro\X15\FileLocations\
I have no problems with this script in PSP 2023. So maybe try resetting everything to defaults and hopefully fixing anything you've done in the registry. Beyond that no idea what to tell you.

Re: Script - Backup File Locations
Last (hopefully) followup.
I uninstalled completely PSP and did the reinstall process; indeed Levi is correct (as ? always) and I have found the file locations in the registry and made my fix there and all is well.
I'm not sure why I had such difficulties first but such is technology or Windows or something. Brute force approach sometimes is best.
Thanks for your advice.
