Re: 3D default title not showing in editor window
As you were !
Back to no text in 3DTE window .I selected one of the Text Objects(a column of presets all showing “3D Text”) and dragged it on to the 3DTE window and it showed with a red box partially surrounding it. Thought that was it but it does not change with changes in the text setting box or respond to any other editing attempts like moving or orientation. If I click on “3D” in the window, or near it, the text setting box text stays at the default “3D Text” .If I click on “Text” in the window, or anywhere near it on the black background, the text in the box changes to my typed text.
What next

Re: 3D default title not showing in editor window
Hi Kenneth
When we open the 3DTE a default text box shows as “3DText” in white
If we select any object, we do not have to drag, just simply select that selection is placed on the preview screen over the top of the existing.
We can change the text by typing into the top right panel.
Below the left hand panel, just above the timelines is another small panel showing 3D Text, this is a list of all text boxes being used, the one showing being the active text box. Use the arrow to access other boxes. We can also select text boxes from the preview screen, single click, double click will duplicate the box.
Try this
Open 3dt
Change the duration from 3 sec to say 8 seconds
Move the text box to lower left, drag the word on preview screen.
Type in a new word, top right panel, change font size.
Using the End button, below the preview screen will move timeline curser to right
Move / drag the text box to the top left of preview screen
A keyframe will be added to the timelines position
Play the effect
just a learning curve

“When we open the 3DTE a default text box shows as “3DText” in white”
Nothing shows in window
Moved duration to 8 secs
So typed new text. Then I think I must have clicked on window.3D Text now shows in white in window. But this white text does not respond to attempts to move etc or changes when I type in text box

Re: 3D default title not showing in editor window
See if this short LSC helps:
https://app.box.com/s/q5vnzf3252kjdcs0540zym9a9umkr3sc
Thing to remember is the default (opening) text layer will be there until you add a new layer, manually or by using a preset object from the library, then delete the text from the default layer. That layer will be removed from the drop list of your text layers when you select a remaining layer.
