I know that you can use the dv camera as a playback window, but can I make my connected tv a playback window?

If you have a dualhead graphics card, you can. Realtime preview with TV or external monitor exactly what is displayed in the Preview Window. There are tutorials for both Matrox and ATI at Ulead's learning center for Media Studio Pro.

can't help you with the card... but sometimes what i do is plug my dv camera into the tv and into the computer at the same time so i can just watch it through the camera but have it show up on the tv... kind of rough, i know, but it works for what i do.

As for ejskater16's suggestion, that was the only way of doing it before Ulead MSP had dualhead graphics card support. Now about your graphics card. It is an older model, so make sure you have the latest drivers installed. As for connection there are cables that connect PC to TV. They have a S-video and 3.5 mm stereo connector that converts to RCA composites for easy TV input.

Another way, which I have used for years, is to connect a DV>analogue converter to your IEEE-1394 card. This allows scrubbing, effects, preview and play via Print-to-tape or Export on your TV. The model I use is the Canopus ADVC-100 (now replaced by ADVC-110). Of course, I also use it for high quality analogue in, which is totally hassle free, because it is a DV stream. Highly recommended.
