"split video by scene detection" greyed out

Post by Wibo »

I have just installed DVD Moviefactory 3. Applied all the latest patches. I use a Terratec Grabster AV400 to capture my analog video. I want to digitize all my old Video8 tapes and put them on DVD.
I have video, I have audio, capturing works too.
However, the option "split video by scene detection" in the capture options is greyed out. How can I activate this feature, to avoid getting very large files?

Thanks for the help!

split by scene detection is only available for DV firewire capturing.

OK, thanks. The reason I'm asking is that Pinnacle Studio 9 does have such an option for captured analog video. Do you know any freeware software that will split video by content change?

MovieFactory can also detect the 'frame content" changes of a captured video file. however, this is on the "Add/Edit Chapter" portion using the "Auto Scene Detection". it will not split the video.

VideoStudio 9 can split the captured video clip using the "Split by Scene Detection" based on frame content. In not familiar of any freeware that can do this.
