The frame size... does not match

Post by qtrim »

Hi. It looks like this was last asked in 2011. I have a video file (details below) that I drop on the timeline and want to smartrender. When VS10 prompts to change the project setting to match I say yes. But when I go to smartrender I get this notice:

"The frame size (480 x 270) of the video file does not match the settings and therefore cannot be trimmed." I can render it to another size, but that re-encodes it.

Any ideas for a fix?

NTSC non-drop frame (30 fps)
MPEG-4 Files
24 bits, 480 x 270, 30 fps
Frame-based
H.264 High Profile Video: 340 Kbps
48000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo
MPEG AAC Audio: 163 Kbps

"I drop on the timeline and want to smartrender."
What do you mean? it's a single clip you need to trim few parts off and render it shorter?

Yes, it’s about 20 mins long, I cut a few spots out, fade in and out the ends, then go to render and get that message.

Well, you can't render it as mp4 as VS can handle only discrete MP4 resolutions and yours isn't one of them.
So your next best friend is XVID as AVI where you can set that size.
**if you do any trim and fades VS will re-encode anyway.
