I have now posted Peter Anderson's script that allows you to create a custom grid on a vector layer above the layer you're working on, set the color and thickness of the lines, and set the number of lines or the spacing between lines. It is in the Scripting sub-forum here:

Have fun! :-)

Thank you for the additional instructions. I have not had time to try all that yet. What I did in the meantime (Now don't laugh :lol: ...) was to open a much larger transparent image with the grid, trace the lines with the pen tool. Opened my smaller transparent image. Pasted the grid as a new layer so I could move it around, added a new layer with a dot that is centered so I could find a center point on the grid, merged visible, exported with PNG optimizer, and saved it. That way I could use that as a "temporary" layer over my project.

Thanks for the link. I'm going to download it. Seems to me I add these to "Trusted Scripts"? It will be will be handy, but I just have to find time to fiddle with it. 8) THIS time I also will save these with all the brushes, tubes, etc. that I save on an my external drive so I don't lose them again if I have to reinstall PSP.

=======================

Just a quick edit to add that I'm using the script. It's PERFECT - exactly what I needed! :D
I really appreciate it.

Glad it works for you. As a hint, if you want the grid lines to extend beyond the edges of your image then you could first increase the canvas size (preferably with transparency) with your image centered and then run the script. Then when you move the grid the lines could still cover all of your centered image because they would have been drawn to the size of the increased canvas. However, when finished you would still have to remove the extraneous canvas from around your image. You could easily do that by first deleting the grid layer and then using the magic wand to select "all opaque", click on the image and crop to selection. But whatever works best for your workflow.

As for your comment that you think you have placed these scripts in "Trusted", that shouldn't make any difference because Restricted scripts tend to work from that folder. However, Trusted scripts (those that make changes to your hard drives, programs, access external program files, etc) won't work from Restricted folders.

Edit: [Nevermind. I'm going to work on this problem some more and re-down the script.]

JoeB wrote:. . . if you want a grid to intersect exactly in the middle of the canvas and you are using the Grid by Cells script you have to set the number of cells to an even number. If you want the lines drawn by the vector script (or any other method where you set the number of lines you want) to intersect at the middle you have to set the number of lines to an odd number.
Really, nothing has changed from PSP8, even menu placement. The grid properties then and now are in the View menu. Grid properties are still by pixels, inches or centimeters. Even the dialogue window is the same. I concur with the even number advice, with the caveat that you need to pick a number that is not divisible by four.
Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.
