Description:

I heard about the Polarize effect from ehume in the wishlist and I went searching for tutorials on doing it manually. I found one video tutorial for Photoshop and one script for GIMP. I combined these two methods to create this version of the effect.

This is not an accurate polarization effect. Just need to stress that, it's a fake simulation that probably doesn't work. The effect is done on its own layer, so you can tone it down by adjusting the opacity of the layer.
