What kind of file is created by the Screen Capture

Post by JohnRVSP »

I have been creating several clock videos for this project....
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=63821

But now I am having new different problems.

I have captured the windows analog clock in a VSP Screen Capture box stated size of 160x124. I tried to edit the clock with VSP for various lengths but VSPX10U upscaled and converted the small clock video into a giant file upsized to 1080.

I don't need a 1080 file, it needs to be small like the original.

At this point I just want to cut them down, or join them together, several times maybe, to be useful, but everything I have tried has failed to simply execute this task.

I have tried:
1. VSPX10U resulted in a massivly enlarged file that even added a soundtrack to a file that did not have one...
2. Avidemux 2.7 FREE resulted in unsupported file type.http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/download.html
3. Wondershare Filmora v8 FREE resulted in unsupported file type.https://filmora.wondershare.com/video-e ... files.html
4. DVDVideoSoft 1.4 FREE video editor resulted in simply crashing.https://www.dvdvideosoft.com/free-video-editor.htm

SOOOOO

My questions are:
A. I have captured several "Clocks" with "VSP Screen Capture", and each file has properties slightly different from each other....
Data Rates of 73kbps, 74kbps, 104kbps etc.--Why are there differences between files of the apparent same thing, they were captured exactly the same way?
B. Will they merge-edit-cut etc., without difficulty since they are not exactly the same format?
C. Is there something odd about the file generated by VSP Capture? It says it is a WMV and all of the above listed editors say they work on WMVs but not these VSP Screen Capture files for some reason.
D. Is there a way to set the VSP editor output to keep the original file type & settings etc. so they don't explode or add data that was never there?
E. Is there a different free (or VLCost) video editor solution to this problem?

Maybe I am making this too complicated?

What are your thoughts

Thanks,
John

All right, Scratch all of that
I accidentally found the check box & Drop Down box

Have you try to put your clocks in the overlay tracks and right click them to Original size?

Yes I have used them as an overlay in a trial run that did not fully encode start-to-finish. I was hoping to do the "Time Lapse" on the raw files before final real encoding, but it appears the TL does not work on multiple/all tracks simultaneously.

It appears I have to make a "PRE" final 8hr or 9hr or 10hr encoded video, then TL, then re-encode again. I have not tried to make a final project due to the extended encoding time just to make 1 or 2, or probably even several more PRE TL's.

My original problem with "VS Capture" was that I did not see that the "Sound" setting was not turned off and an audio track was being created and bloating the clock file un-necessarily. I tried to "Render" those first clocks with the audio track "Split Audio" off, and deleted, but it still did not render w/o an audio track, and, it also rendered larger and fatter file sizes (+10x larger), as well (UpScaling).

I have since found the sound switch, set it to "OFF", and am now creating clocks that are as slim & trim as possible.

Thanks for your interest in my project & questions.

Good that you straggle any culprit. but all those issues can be resolved if you set your encoding parameters.
if there isn't "audio" data than it shouldn't takes any Mb and once as overlaid it shouldn't add anything as sound and at worst case you can just mute it.
Surly by the end of this project you will be expert on VS's TL hiccups, will it help you in any other general projects ... maybe.
