Corel Ultimate 2018 - Split Clip Shortcut

Good morning all,

New to the forum and literally clicked every button on my keyboard to figure out the shortcut. I have a list but it does not specify split clip shortcut. If there is no shortcut how do I create my own split clip shortcut to vastly speed up the process of editing content?

What could be a quicker way of splitting a clip but to get to the place where you want the split, and pressing the scissors icon immediately below the bottom right corner of the preview screen? If you then want to remove a bit, move on to where you want to restart the video, left click the part between the two cuts, and then press Delete.

Well I am making numerous "Micro edits" for action scenes on gaming and music videos for my youtube channel. Sometimes I may split a 90 frame clip 5-10 times, so moving with the keyboard frame by frame and then hitting a keyboard shortcut to cut allows me to be very precise and very quick. Did you know the shortcut by chance or was there a way to configure a shortcut myself?

Ken, with keys shortcuts work can be done with two hands and double the workflow speed.

You made the point that jraegun had forgotten the S key. All I want to know is what the S key does. As far as I can see, it does nothing by itself within VS. So I thought it must, like most shortcut keys, be used in conjunction with another key. If that is so, then what key?

Ken - the 'S' key by itself will split a video - with a video in the timeline move the cursor to desired point then press the S key - and the video will split -at least for me and presumably asik1 as well

There are a number of single key shortcuts listed in the user manual and the attachment shows just a small part of the list although I do not know how you missed the 'S' one Jraegun

Well you learn something every day. I may have looked at the shortcut list a very long time ago, but I don't use shortcuts much if at all. Happy with my well established workflow, I guess.

Hi, I am also making numerous edits and regardless of how "quick and easy" it is for you to use a button on the UI (which is in a separate pane from the actual editor for some reason), requiring a keyboard shortcut for such a very, very common feature shouldn't sound like an alien request.

Case in point: The UI changes. Your keyboard never changes. A user should ALWAYS have access to a keyboard shortcut for features like this.
