Paint contractor needs help-Photo colorization

Post by afplimitedcorp »

Hello, I’m a commercial paint contractor. I’m trying to take a photo of a building/house & change the color for the structure only. That way I can give my clients a better idea of how the colors will look before we start buying paint samples. I’m not new to working with graphics programs but I’m having trouble getting a decent result. any suggestions or sights I can go to learn this?

thanx,
matt

Have you tried using the "Color Replacement" tool in the Adjust dropdown?

Essentially, you pick the color you want to change using the eyedrop tool. You change the color using the hue and saturation contol.

Here's a quick & dirty example using a pot of impatiens:

You can "fine tune" it, adding and subtracting as noted in the lower right image.

There is also a color replacement pen which can be set to 'colorize' and used to paint over one color with another, leaving shadows and highlights intact.
