Click on the User Control Panel link at the top of the forum and then go through all of the tabs and options available under each tab. On option will give you email notifications. I believe it's under Board Preferences>Edit Posting Defaults.
For posting images, there is an Upload Attachment option underneath the box in which you type your posts. I believe that image attachments are limited to about 950pixels on the longest side.
