bluray player - cache full - how to burn to bluray!! grrrrrr

Post by garjobo »

'yellow

I am having a problem burning my first blurray. I have VSX9. Rarely use to be honest, but got back into it, remembers ( just about ) how to create menus etc and burnt to basic DVD-R.

Anyway, i have a bluray burner installed...i dont think i have ever really used it. Cyberlink bluray.

I burn to bluray as per the norm process...but it comes up as ' not enough space on VS - buffer - cache full' words to that annoying effect. It mentioned cleaning etc - preferences etc...have looked but cant see anything exciting there to mess about with.

Would any kind soul know how i go about burning to bluray. Thought would be simple process, like a basic dvd. Pop in bluray, click 'burn to bluray' and bobs your uncle.

But..nope! as per the norm...one obstacle after another with this..hence the long time since last bothered with it.

Just as a sidenote...well..in a nutshell. From the messages I was receiving on VS after waiting 1hr 45min as it went through the rendering etc processes....from the messages basically it seems to say that MY PC ( the part on my pc where VS sits ) is full..the cache is full type thing.......)

So - my question is....why does this matter? Why does the memory / or whatever it is matter. I have made my project. It is saved but also sitting in the timeline. 50min long, few effects, basic stuff really. I click SHARE > burn BLURAY and head to Menu and then burn etc...

...clicking on create DVD in the exact same manner works no problem...it burns it..takes over a hour + but works. SO - WHY WHY WHY won't it just WORK! for bluray. What is missing???

Hence my question...'cache full? VS sitting on my C: DRIVE....why is that message coming up? what difference does it make - doesnt come up with normal DVD.

Labouring the problem I know.

Is your VS working folder also on the C:\ drive? Is your C:\ getting full? Having sufficient space is important depending on your work flow. If you edit your project and then jump straight to the Burning module, the project file appears in the burning timeline and still needs conversion to a Blu-Ray compliant mpeg-2 or AVCHD mpeg-4. Moreover, a BD single layer disc can hold 25 GB, considerably more than a DVD. So the burning process will require a lot more space both for the production of the BD compliant file, and the ancillary processes. So to be on the safe side, it will require up to 50 GB during the burning process.

You could always produce the BD compliant file in the Edit module, and do so on another disc. You could also set your working folder to another location. Note that there is a second link to the working module in the Burning module as well in the first icon in the bottom left of the burning screen, under Preferences. That needs to be changed too.

Ken I fail to believe that photo of you is uptodate. You have been helping, advising ( and confusing me with techno babble ) since the dawn of time on this forum - surely you are grey by now!!!

Ken - thanks once again for the reply. Giving up the ghost - i have deleted my videostudio ( losing footage in process but heck all saved and was all over the place anyway ) - SO - i am waiting for Corel to give me new activation code AND plan to purchase - discount cost - latest version in the vein hope any bluray issues will be resolved. Please tell me latest version is better !

SO - my question out there is...can I simply upload to D drive...or will it automatically go to my C drive again ( which is solid state but small..hence filling up quickly )

Any benefit NOT going to C solid state drive? I was less than impressed with speed the last time anyway so assuming not much difference.

Yes... I confess I have been using that photo since I first started on the Board about 14 years ago. And yes, definitely all grey now, including the beard! Maybe I will change it one day...

I know that some people install VS on drives other than the C:\ drive and it works for them. But I have never done so, but hopefully one or more of them will step in to give instructions. I have been on an SSD drive in recent months, and installed them on two of my laptops. But I found them so relatively cheap (A$219 for 500 GB Samsungs) that I have continued having VS on them, given that their overall size leaves plenty of room for programs and working folders.

I realize you have now scrubbed the current installation. But I suspect you didn't need to if you had changed the two working folders (in the editing and burning modules) to another drive.
