I have noticed that some transparency bugs remain even though they are reported by users. Does Corel ever fix them?
I have another bug that is a real problem for my current project. I have a png that I am using as a custom letterbox over part of my video because one of the source videos has a letterbox and when it is displayed and I do not want the effects I apply to show through even though they are necessary for the right effect. To illustrate what I mean, here is my track setup:
Main Track: Full screen video that provides a "background" for parts and acts as main video when main overlay is not meant to be shown.
Main Overlay: Letterbox video that provides a thematic overlay which is blended into the scene. (In some parts the transparency of this layer is set to 30)**
Letterbox Overlay that was developed using the main overlay to provide a non-transparent letterbox effect when Main Overlay is active. It is a png with a black letterbox bars at the top and the bottom with a completely transparent middle section.
The problem is that if I apply a transparency effect to the Main Overlay using an effect rather than just the main transparency/chroma key panel, the "main"/vanilla transparency effect (starred above) is applied to ALL layers, including the Letterbox overlay... effectively nullifying the reason I created the overlay to begin with. This should not happen when the Letterbox overlay is on an overlay track that takes precedence (it is further down).
Another Bug. Does Corel ever fix them?

I suggest you share a small project with the bug and tell Corel support about it. You could also share this project with the forum and someone may have some ideas.

It would also be useful if you could explain which "effect" you refer to when you say you use "an effect rather than just the main transparency/chroma key panel". Are you talking about a transition? If so, then you have to be aware that only some of the transitions work exclusively with overlay tracks, and the rest produce the effect you have found i.e. they apply to ALL tracks.mbusselberg wrote:The problem is that if I apply a transparency effect to the Main Overlay using an effect rather than just the main transparency/chroma key panel, the "main"/vanilla transparency effect (starred above) is applied to ALL layers, including the Letterbox overlay... effectively nullifying the reason I created the overlay to begin with.
I don't have X7 -- if that is what you are still using -- readily to hand. But I think it was only later versions of VS which grouped the "overlay transitions" together under that title. There are 40 of them and shown in the screen shot I have attached from VS 2018.
