UVS9 - add ... video disc player ... (could not find this)

Post by GeorgeK »

You can also click Output Advanced Settings if you want to add additional components such as a video disc player or your personal data.
I am using UVS9 (ESD) and I am sure that once apon a time I was able to include Ulead's DVD player with by DVDs. However now I cannot find such an option, it just seems to have vanished.

Has anyone else experienced this? And have you found a solution?

I believe this has resulted after I rebuilt my computer to recover from the "Windows Update 3.x bug."

Hi George

You must be a mind reader, I only thought about that earlier today.

The dvd player was part of VS 8.

I haven’t found any reference to it in version 9.

Also--what has happened to the personal folder option???????????
Which may have been more useful by saving your files to the same disc.

So its nothing to do with rebuilding your system.

in the last step, in output settings / Advanced (you need to be burning a DVD and have one in the drive)

That feature was unfortunately removed. I suspect it is because of the inclusion of AC-3 audio in UVS 9 -- the Ulead DVD Player doesn't support it, probably due to licensing issues. Since AC-3 has become the preferred audio format, the Ulead DVD Player has lost its appeal.

Yes I stand corrected, I don't have the actual VS9 on this machine and merely referred to page 135 of the doc which states the same as the help file:

In Share/Burning your project into a disk:
3. In Output settings, select one or more tasks you want to do. For example, select the recording format that best suits your need. (See the notes below). You can also click Output Advanced Settings if you want to add additional components such as a video disc player or your personal data

Seems the docs are not up to the program
I also have MF4 and the options ARE there so I knew I had used it.

Again sorry for giving wrong info. Just tried to help.

No DVD Player !!!!!

No DVD Player !!!!!

Waaarrrhhhhh !!!!!!

I loved my Ulead DVD Player, just about always added it.

I mostly use MPEG2 Audio (in ignorant believe that it saves having to rerender the video), and because it gives as good enough sound for my records.

But, hey, I can live without it. Ulead Video Studio is soooo much FUN! :P

Thanks to all. Thanks to you trevor andrew, it helps to know your not the only one missing it....

PS: Has anyone got around to fixing that Microsoft Windows Installer 3.x issue? Microsoft has now made it manditory to be able to install Critical Updates. So here I go, "Install MS Windows Installer 3.1", Ïnstall Critical Updates", then "Uninstall MS Windows Installer 3.1". Sigh....

From the automatic update window, can't we select custom install(advanced)
Then select the options to update???????????

George,
If you are still rendering MPEG2 audio, you should still be able to use it. You could pull it off of an existing DVD you have and add it as a folder. I didn't like the way UVS9 added folders, so I generate the folders and burn with Nero. That way I can place the files where I want. This was how I found out about the AC3 audio, but the video worked. It is worth an RW disc to find out.
