I would be curious if there is a difference being offline for you or not.
Would you be willing to try a full reset (close PSP, hold SHIFT while reopening PSP) if you could easily restore your File Locations afterward? I have a half-completed script that actually performs this backup, would you be willing to try after I finished it?

Re: PSP 2018 Freezing and tools not working
I reinstalled X9, which did the same thing that 2018 did.
I would be willing to do a full reset on that one when you finish the script.

Re: PSP 2018 Freezing and tools not working
Alright, sorry for taking so long.
Here is the topic where I have uploaded the script for you to try: viewtopic.php?f=104&t=63919
This script can be used in conjunction with Saving your Workspace and the Save Preferences Script: viewtopic.php?f=104&t=56858
Save Workspace (built-in) - Will save all UI changes
Save Preferences (Script) - Will Save your general preferences
FileLocations - Backup (Script) - Will Save your File Locations
Then you can restore all of them after a full factory reset or a reinstall on the same computer to restore all changes you've made to the program.

Re: PSP 2018 Freezing and tools not working
First I uninstall by holding down shift as I open the program, right?
Do I have to run the psp cleanup program?
I'll need to add the patches or that doesn't matter for this experiment?
Can I save the results of the script in a folder on my desktop for easy access?
There are 3 scripts total, correct?
Btw, I tried to use the "new file" script in pspX9, and it said the version of the script wasn't compatible. That was weird, huh?

Re: PSP 2018 Freezing and tools not working
1) We're not uninstalling. We're simply doing a factory reset. Close PSP, hold SHIFT while opening PSP. It'll ask if you want to do a complete reset of the system.
2) No, since we're not uninstalling this is not necessary. And will, in fact, hurt things.
3) Again, not uninstalling for this test so we're good
4) Yes, but you will need to put the "PSPPreferences" file back into your Workspaces folder before trying to reload them. The File Locations file can be saved anywhere.
5) Technically 2 scripts, or four depending on how you want to view it. One script backs up the Preferences. One script backs up the File Locations. Both scripts have their own accompanying restore script. But saving the workspace, that's a built-in function.
As for the new file script, I don't know if that's weird or not. I thought I had made it version 9 compatible unless I typoed the version number.

Re: PSP 2018 Freezing and tools not working
Just completed the reset.
Thank you for the scripts.
Now to find out if it freezes.
Guess I need to open a bunch of new images to test it.
I'll use it for a little while instead of 2018 to see what happens.

Re: PSP 2018 Freezing and tools not working
I took the plunge and reset PSP 2018. I'll be testing it out today.
I tested the file-open and it worked.
Will post the findings.

Update on psp 2018 after reset. The new file button still freezes the program.
So far so good with X9.
Go figure.
