Video Studio 2018 Trial problems

Post by Suthern »

I'm running the trial version of studio 2018. I'm trying to learn the program, but it keeps crashing on me and... Well lets say I'm trying to create an intro to a video. I load the video into the timeline slot. I have created a fade into black for the first scene, using the dummy black block method. Then the transition fade to black block, then my first clip. During playback, sometimes, my video stays black, other times it will play. The main thing driving me crazy is, as soon, as my (actual recorded) video clip starts to play, it has a very noticeable freeze lag in it. The clip was recorded in slow motion, not sure if this is culprit, or not, as I have not tried it with a normal video yet. Will this be present after a render? Should I adjust project format? Thanks in advance

Can not save video files

Post by Suthern »

Still running trial for studio 2018. Youll see my issues in my other thread, which hasn't posted yet. I was just curios if the lag would carry over into a media file, so I tried to save, so I could view it in a media player, but I can not save it under any format, except same as project. Which will only allow me to open it as an editable file in Corel. I get errors like this is file is only supported in windows 7, 8, 10. I have windows 10????? Or the error will be something like frame 120 is unreadable. This program is a major headache so far. and Ive only tried creating a 20 intro, which has taking me hours, due to crashes, the learning curve, etc. I can not for the life of me understand why this wasn't created with a highlight feature for editing. highlight delete, highlight edit, highlight add effect etc.... Anyway. Just trying to figure this thing out, not sure if its cause Im in trial mode, or what, but Im not going to buy the product if its this bad... Thanks in advance

Hi
and welcome to the forums

I have combined your posts into one topic as the issues are the same.

You do not give any details of your video file?
Can you right click your video file and choose properties, what are they
You can make an image of that panel and attach to your post.

It may be the type of video you are using, then could be the combination of effects you are applying

If you wish to fade in there are several ways to do that.
Normally i would add a Black Colour to the timeline, then my video, apply A/B Crossfade transition.
or
add Video - drag crossfade to beginning of clip, no need for black clip.
or
right click clip for Customise motion
Set size to 100
Change Opacity settings
add keyframe at say 3 seconds - change Opacity

But as i say it may be your video that is causing problems.

Try the above fades using one of the Library Sample videos, does that work?
