Resizing images psp x9 Ultimate

Post by caspia1 »

I normally work with large images (2mb +).
I often need to reduce the size to align with publisher requests.
When I resize down, I have to try various times to get the image size down to say 500kb without losing sharpness and resolution.
I use PSP Version 7 as a means for this because by right clicking it tells me the actual kb for the image.
Is there a way I can do this with x9?
Thanks.

There are a number of ways to get image information.

1. Image -> Image Information

2. Right-click in the main work area and select Image Information from the right-click context menu

3. Use keyboard shortcut Shift + I

In PSP X9 version 19.1.0.29 when you do a Save As then at the very bottom of the Save As dialog box is shown the file size.
Is that what you are after.
You can change the compression and see the effect on file size there.
You can also soften non essential parts of the image and again when you do a Save As see what the file size will be.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Neither option gives me what I´m after, unfortunately.
In PSP 7 by pointing the cursor on the thumbnail it tells me 5.6mb (for example) in my case.
This is what I need to be able to see in x9.

In x9 when I point the cursor on the thumbnail I see only "shutter speed, f stop number, ISO and exposure."

You can get that information, and more, by simply opening the Info panel.

Where do you see the thumbnail in PSP 7 ?
If you use Windows Explorer, you don't need to right-click. You hover the cursor over the image and it shows what you ask.

In X9, where do you use the thumbnails ? In the Organizer, in Manage mode, in Edit mode when you want to open an image ?

In X9, image's size is visible in Manage mode (see attached).
In X9, image's size is visible in Edit mode (don't right-click, just hover the cursor) (see attached).

A word of warning - in Manage mode the Exif size in the Info palette gives an incorrect size if the image had been resized. Image information in Edit and the information panel at the bottom of the full size display in Manage mode (double click) are correct. I don't know how far back this goes but the error persists in PSP2018.
