keeping picture information on export
How do you keep the picture information such as the type of camera, lens, aperature, etc when you export a jpg?
Thank you

Re: keeping picture information on export
If when you say "Export", you mean Save, then under Save or Save As, click on Options, then make sure the "Save EXIF information" box is checked. That should do it.

I don't know that you can export the exif info in Paint Shop Pro when converting your image to jpg. Aftershot Pro has that capability though.

Thanks... I saw it. But the original question asked about 'exporting a jpg', which is why I responded the way I did.See TimW's post just before yours.

Again one only has to look and check it out on your system.
You can Export a jpg using File > Export > JPEG Optimiser and there is a tick box there under the Quality tab for saving the EXIF data but only in Standard mode, not in Progressive mode.

Re: keeping picture information on export
There is still something that can be - and to me is - quite confusing about the jpg save dialogues. When you click on Options you get 3 "encoding options" - Standard, Progressive and Lossless. In my case the Save Exif box on that dialogue has the ability to check or uncheck it in Standard. If I choose either progressive OR lossless the checkmark is still there but the box is greyed out and can't be changed.hartpaul wrote:Again one only has to look and check it out on your system.

Then, if I click the Optimizer button, that dialogue 2 "format" options - Standard and Progressive. And if I have Lossless selected in the previous dialogue then I can't select Progressive in the Optimizer dialogue.
So what's with the Lossless option in the Options dialogue under Encoding? And what is the difference between Standard and Progressive encoding as opposed to Standard and Progressive format?

Re: keeping picture information on export
Not sure I'm fully understanding "standard" and "progressive". I've tried searching the PSP 2018 Help and Manual for exporting and still confused.
I am trying to make HDR panorama's partially with PSP 2018 and finishing in PTGui. When I opened the finished JPG photos in PTGui after HDR processing in PSP, I got a message that said that "EXIF data not present" and something about the EXIF data was apparently not transferred or not captured by your camera. I am shooting with Canon 6D, and a 12mm Samyang Fisheye 180 FOV. I understand that the lens won't transfer data as it is a fixed fisheye, but don't understand camera data not being transferred. Corel Exposure Merge process is to create and HDR file then in final processing (Step 3) to save into a JPG file. I don't see ANY options in that process to save or include EXIF data, but that is important when the file gets to PTGui. (I am making a 360 x 180 Equirectangular Pano in PTGui.)
So ... is there a way to get that EXIF data to the finished file by Corel, or am I just out of luck? What am I missing, and where did I miss it? Is the solution in the documentation?

In any event, thank you for taking the time to read this, and I will appreciate any guidance / suggestions on this.

Re: keeping picture information on export
Keep in mind that HDR will involve multiple files. Each with its own exit information. When the files are combined into one file then which exit data should be used? Most/all HDR software will not know what exit data to use from which file. So it with ignore the exit data altogether. In some cases basic, unchanged exit information may be used, but not all of it. ie what shutter speed would be used if all exposures were different?

ExifTool is a commandline tool that includes several options including copying tags from one file to another

I don't now if it works directly with RAW images if that's what you're using. But here is the basic command for moving EXIF data.

I believe there's a GUI for that.LeviFiction wrote:ExifTool is a commandline tool that includes several options including copying tags from one file to another

Further I believe it's called exiftoolgui
