New Blue Paint Effects VS 2018 Ultimate

Paint FX are not showing in VS.Have followed the advice via this link given in my order confirmation-

and copied the .vft files manually to Copy the filters to: C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2018\vft_plug
But no joy, can any one help please

Hi Kenneth

The link to the Corel guide relates to NewBlue Film Effects and not the “free paint effects” provided with 2018.
I do not have that file so cannot check the installation.

If the NewBlue Film Effects is specifically for 2018 then why do you have to copy the files.
If you run the installation again, is there a panel that allows you to add a path, ( as the guide) you would then target the 2018 vft_plug folder.

What is the names of the files you moved.?

Sometimes resetting the program can update the library structure, your FX filter may then show.

In my NewBlue FX - Paint Effects order conformation ,the following
New Blue FX Plug-In Installation Instructions were advised
“Close VideoStudio
Using Windows Explorer / File Explorer navigate to
For VideoStudio 64 Bit:
C:\Program Files\NewBlue\Film Effects for Windows\Ulead64
Select the NewBlue Filters -- .vft
Copy the filters to:
For VideoStudio 64 Bit:
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X10\vft_plug
Launch VideoStudio
Verify the NewBlue Film Effects is listed under the FX section.
For further details, see the Knowledge Base Article (in English only).”
I substituted 2018 in place of X10.As the .vft files did not show in the VS 2018 FX section, I then went to the Knowledge Base Article for more info.
Even though the link to the Corel guide relates to NewBlue Film Effects and not Paint effects, I assumed the file paths and general work flow would be the same but using the appropriate .vft files.
I am not at my pc now but will return to the issue tomorrow and reply.I take it when its says" Copy the filters to:" it does mean copy the .vft files and then paste to
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio X10\vft_plug ? (substituting 2018) or should I have added this path in the panel which was blank

Hi Ken,
The instructions you have are correct, go to C:\ProgramFiles\NewBlue\PaintEffects for Windows
Open Ulead64
Right click and select all, select copy
open C:\ProgramFiles\Corel\CorelVideoStudio2018
open folder vft_plug Now paste into that folder

When installing New Blue packages, if they do not appear in the FX folder, this is the method that works for all new Blue packages that have Corel 64 bit installers, so can't explain why you are having issues

You should add the installation path, all that means is that NB could not find the correct path and what you have stated is correct, but that does not always work

Regarding New Blue, I do not have that free package, can you upload to my One Drive so I can test this.
Either you are doing something wrong or the filter just does not work with 2018, if the later than Corel need to know.

I purchased VS 2018 Ultimate in March 2018.
Unfortunately this version does not include the NB PaintEffects. Is there a way to get the source vft files?

Have followed this workflow-
go to C:\ProgramFiles\NewBlue\PaintEffects for Windows
Open Ulead64
select all>right click>select copy
open C:\ProgramFiles\Corel\CorelVideoStudio2018
open folder vft_plug > paste into that folder. files populate folder in abc order but not in fx library
Have tried this twice, the only New Blue FX I have is Titler Pro 5

Are you saying that you do not have any New Blue Filter packages showing in the FX library, you should have 8 New Blue packages displaying, all of which are included with VS 2018

You have made sure that all the VS 2018 packages, Ultimate, Standard Content, Standard Content2 and Bonus feature have been installed

Yes all the extra content and Service Pack 2 were installed, well at least that is what I saw happening on installation

You haven't actually answered the question, do you have any New Blue Packages displaying, if not I think an uninstall and reinstall are in order

Thanks for those files, however I think there is a file missing.
I only needed the files you downloaded from Corel.

I think there may be an exe file missing, maybe called NewBluePaintEffectsFor windows or similar?

I have found that the pack should install to X7, X8 and X9 although we can add a new path.
But as I say need another exe file. If I am wrong then it does not install for me?

Hi Guys

I am having a lot of problems copying the vft files to 2018
The program is struggling to open most times just closes without error

I have tried a library reset and a program reset

Now my FX library is completely empty, dont think i have the full package.

Whilst I managed to install the .vft files, by just copying them, they do not display in the library, as you say Trevor, there could be a component missing

But Ken has now stated that the only New Blue showing in his library is Titler Pro 5, so where are the other 8 New Blue packages,

Ken has provided a file called NewBluePaintEffectsForWindowsCSetup30.exe
That does indeed install correctly
During install there are two options to add a paths, I filled in the details for X10 and 2018, both installed ok.
C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio 2018\vft_plug etc

I did not have to copy any files across, install completes ok.
After install there was a popup from NewBlue requesting activation, as the filters are supposed to be free I ignored that, so far they seem to work ok
I will upload the file to my One Drive for you to try. Just tried that and my internet failed, will try again, give it some time, oh I have cleaned that folder.

Kenneth can you run the NewBluePaintEffectsForWindowsCSetup30.exe again, make sure you add the paths to the installation panels for CVS 2018 and X10
They should install without the need to copy any files
