Rotate multiple objects to be at same angle?
I would like to see the angle displayed as I rotate an object. Yes, I can perform a fine rotation and preview the result. Yes, I can turn the grid on to see when I am at (call it zero degrees). What I would like, and maybe it can be done in PSP, is when you select an object and you drag to rotate it, for the absolute angle (relative to background perhaps) to be displayed as you change the angle of the object. Then, when you select another object, you can get to the same angle using the select then drag around method.
Where I'm coming from is that feature is in Pinnacle Studio. It allows for "dead nuts" granularity of where you rotated it that can be repeated when you select another object. That will make it quick and easy when going from one object to another.
FYI: Although not what I am looking for but heads in the direction -> When I select multiple [vector layered] text objects, I am not given the option to rotate them simultaneously.

Re: Rotate multiple objects to be at same angle?
It appears in the status bar at the bottom of the program.
Not the easiest thing in the world to read, and it would be nice if they showed it in an overlay for easy viewing. But, while dragging with the pick tool, you can see the angle of the rotation in the status bar.

Re: Rotate multiple objects to be at same angle?
Once you get the angle of the rotation of the first object then you don't need to completely do the select and drag around method on the subsequent objects. You just have to select the next object and then type the rotation angle you want to duplicate in the Angle box on the Pick tool's tool option palette. Easier and faster than trying to drag to an exact angle like, for instance, 37.4 degrees.iraisok wrote:I would like to see the angle displayed as I rotate an object. Re: Rotate multiple objects to be at same angle?
No problem. You can also just use that hint to do basically free rotation of a single layer object rather than going to the Free Rotate tool. If you have the Pick tool operative just select the layer to be rotated and type in 45, 90, 180 or whatever angle you desire in the Angle box and it's done. Probably faster than using the Rotation menu items and Free Rotate for single layer rotation.iraisok wrote:Joe,

Re: Rotate multiple objects to be at same angle?
Joe,
Again I thank you and Levi for all the hints in response to my question.
I'm thinking none of the hints you guys shared are stated in the PDF user guide. If you find any of those hints there, please tell me the page or if you see it in the interactive help on right when running the program.
Will try all later this evening.
Tnx,
Ira

I have the text selected. I do not see a place on the Pick tool's tool option palette that allows entry of "angle". The subsections none of which are hidden follows: "Object Alignment", "Object Distribution", "Position On Canvas", "Make Same Size" and "Group".
Please provide a picture.
EDIT: The Angle option is NOT available when you select a Vector Object (layer) text layers that I placed on Vector layers, Angle entry is only available on Raster (maybe other) layers too, not Vector. I hope you prove me wrong because as you know, the goal for me is precisely rotate multiple vector [text] layers to same angle. Also, i though it was possible to click on angle shown on Status bar. Also, the angle is not displayed on the Status bar UNTIL you click on the handle on the object.
Also, I'm totally confused now: When I do use the handle on selected text and rotate it. Yes, I see the angle change in the status bar but when you release the handle, it jumps back to zero degrees (right). That's useless! Next, I go to another text object (other vector layer) and try to rotate it to the same angle the first object was placed at before its handle jumped back to zero and it does NOT align with the first object. ????
Thanks.

Re: Rotate multiple objects to be at same angle?
It sounds like we might both be using the term "object" in different ways. I was speaking about selecting different raster layers - being the "objects: - and rotating them with the Pick tool. Are you now talking about Vector objects and using a tool different from the Pick tool? If so, that's a different situation than the one I thought you originally brought up and to which I and LeviFiction replied.iraisok wrote:Joe,

You might have missed "When I select multiple [vector layered] text objects," that was near the bottom of my original post. So, lets talk "Vector" "objects" and my most recent discoveries with rotating the text object (aka Vector layers in my project). Any way to rotate to an angle and do same to other such text accurately?

Re: Rotate multiple objects to be at same angle?
This is something I've complained to Corel about. Transforming vector and raster layers used to be done with two separate tools. Then the pick tool came along but it still logically separated vectors and rasters. Then we got the ability to select multiple raster layers at once letting us use the align and distribution commands under the Objects menu and they still kept the separation in the pick tool. At this point there's really no point to this separation at all. But still there it is.
So the next best option is to use quick scripts. A quickscript, unlike a regular script, it a temporary file that is meant to make repeating tasks easier without cluttering up your script list. For example, rotating layers and vector objects.
1) Open the History Palette (View -> Palettes -> History)
2) Rotate one text object
3) In the History Palette you should see the latest change. It should say "Vector rotate" click on this
4) On the History Palette toolbar click on the save button. This saves the selected command(s) to a quick script
5) Next, select the next text object
6) Hit the Play button on the history palette.
Video Demo: https://drive.google.com/file/d/14-uH5S ... 6avTg/view
The next time you save a quickscript it'll overwrite the last quickscript you made.

No, I didn't miss what you put at the bottom of your original post. But what it started with is this:
"FYI: Although not what I am looking for...."
So I naturally assumed that you meant that the vector stuff, while another matter, was not what you were looking for an answer for with your initial post.

Excuse me for throwing out multiple finding/queries in the same Post. I'll avoid that. And as you see, Levi has a workaround that I will try.
Thanks much - really!

That did the trick! Worked great and meets the need.
Here I go now asking about the angle readout on Status line. While you can read it off. Since the handle jumps back to zero (aka right), does not show the new angle when you sit on the handle. While I see value in always returning to know location, not continuing to display the angle when you select each object, makes that status line display not too useful.
Thanks,
