Windows Backgrounds Turn Yellow

It seems my sigh of relief was premature. After the Windows 10 version 1903 update I never got past the Manage tab in PaintShop Pro 2020. I was so fixated on fixing the problem with the yellow mouse pointer, backgrounds and borders that I didn't open an image in the Adjustment or Edit tabs. I did that today to be sure everything was in working order. It isn't. Yes, I made the unwanted yellow go away, but my Edit tab had a serious number of things missing across the menu bar, it had no tool bar, no tools option palette and no way to get them to display. There was no way to get the ruler to display. When I dropped down any of the few things in the menu bar, there were few choices there. Many of the familiar selections that should have been there were either grayed out or simply missing altogether. I checked the user manual to see if this was some new minimalist feature in version 2020. It isn't. The pictures in the section on a tour of the work space clearly showed the things that were missing from my installation. I tried doing a repair on the installation but it didn't help. I uninstalled the program, did a system reboot, then re-installed the program. Nothing worked. It was badly crippled and unusable. The only part of it that did work well was the Manage tab.

Sounds like you too have landed in the Essentials workspace, rather than the Complete one. As I said, right click almost anywhere in the PSP interface, and choose Workspace > Complete.

No, I was not in the Essentials workspace. I was in the Complete workspace and had gone into Preferences to display the Manage, Adjust and Edit tabs. I also set the Manage tab to be the default tab when I opened the program. I accessed the Color Management to turn it off and then go to Monitor Calibration to get rid of the yellow background color. I had no such difficulty when I set up my PaintShop Pro 2019 software in which I set up the tabs display in similar fashion.

As about windows I work on 3 different computers: with XP, win801 and win10
the only one that makes me crazy is the last one - with each and every update.
On win8 I have 20 years old programs still working fine!

I have not read this entire discussion, so if it was mentioned, I didn't see it. Windows Update will have a fix in a future update -- Soon, I hope, as you are not the only ones with this problem.

There was a new update for win10 but psp2018 still working fine whitout turning all to yellow

I had the same issue on my WIN10 / PSP2019-64bit) installation.
I could fix the issue permanently by starting PSP while pressing the SHIFT key (Workspace Reset).

Fascinating new development. Anyone else try it? Maybe if you have customized PSP you could save the customizations as a named workspace, and reload it after a shift-start.

Yes, I was able to use this to permanently get rid of the yellow. I use Win10 Home and PSP 2018 64Bit.
1. Turn off Color Management.
2. Go into Monitor Calibration and the yellow should be gone.
3. Exit PSP
4. Restart PSP while holding the Shift Key. It will reset PSP to default settings. The yellow is gone now and for other PSP restarts.

I just received a help request about this issue, so I looked through this thread.

What I wonder about, and maybe someone can answer it, following your steps above, do you really keep Color Management turned off? Or do you turn it on again after resetting workspace via holding Space on PSP launch?

Just keep it turned off. It has never worked properly with any version of PSP.
