The uninstall/reinstall didn't make a difference. I'm going back and forth with tech support right now. Really frustrating.

It's definitely a Windows issue, but it only happens to PSP, which should get their (Corel's) attention. Don't hesitate to go higher up, and don't hesitate to refer to the threads on this subject.kay22 wrote:The uninstall/reinstall didn't make a difference. I did refer to the threads before adding my own issue, and nothing helped. I also contacted support and tried all but one of their suggestions - to no avail. The reason I didn't try the last suggestion was because it made absolutely no sense (create a new user in Windows and try to use the program in that new account. Maybe I'm really dense, but that wasn't worth the try in my opinion.)
But, I decided to look around again in the program last night. I went to Color Management tab and thought I'd try something other than the Color Management option to see what else might be affecting me. When I opened the Monitor Calibration, I noticed some flickering (though I had done nothing other than open it) and realized the yellow was gone. So, there is something with this particular page. I have let the support person know who was handling my ticket, but don't know whether anything will be addressed further. In the meantime, even if the yellow keeps happening, I know what to do to get rid of it.

Re: Windows Backgrounds Turn Yellow
I believe that Monitor Calibration simply by opening fixed the yellow window problem in Win7. However, it would only go away for that session of PSP. See if 1. When you make the yellow go away 2. you can close and reopen PSP without invoking yellow. More, if reopening PSP does not invoke the return of yellow windows, 3. please try restarting your machine and see if you can start PSP without invoking Yellow Windows.kay22 wrote: . . . If this is like past infestations, screenshots will not show the yellow. What worked was taking a picture of the screen.Jean-Luc wrote:If happens again, could you post a screenshot showing before and after (with and without yellow)?kay22 wrote:... and realized the yellow was gone.

Windows 10 v 1903 upgrade and PaintShopPro2020
I installed my upgrade of PaintShop Pro 2020 Ultimate a few days ago and it ran just fine, just as the older 2019 version did. Then the Windows 10 version 1903 upgrade was forced upon my Dell desktop computer. Everything seemed OK afterwards. I gave it a couple of days to test out any bugs and it seemed bug free. Then I tried to run my PaintShop Pro 2020 again and noticed as the program was loading that my mouse pointer, windows borders and backgrounds all turned a hideous bright yellow. The lettering on the PSPro logo was also now this same yellow where it should have been white. As I examined my images in the manage tab once the program had finished loading I noticed that several of them had blobs of yellow in them in various locations such as sky, roofs of buildings or just in random areas in the backgrounds and edges of the images. I closed PSPro and noticed that the yellow areas were still on my Windows desktop where there should have been white. The mouse pointer was still yellow. Items in my task bar were yellow. If I opened up my Outlook email or the Windows file explorer, all of the large backgrounds were this ugly, bright yellow! I did a RESTART to see if it would make this go away. It did. The yellow was gone once my computer rebooted. However, as soon as I opened my PaintShop Pro 2020 again, the yellow areas were right back. I tried uninstalling the most recent part of the 1903 Windows update and rebooted. I ran PaintShop Pro 2020 again. The yellow was back. Windows forced that last bit of its 1903 update right back onto my computer. I uninstalled PaintShop Pro 2020, did another reboot, then re-installed it. Whenever I run PaintShop Pro 2020 the unwanted yellow color is back. I uninstalled PSPro 2020 again, rebooted. Then I decided to try running the 2019 version of PSPro. It had been running just fine for the past year or so. The same yellow colors showed up in the 2019 PSPro as well. I have to assume, since I had been able to run both the 2019 and 2020 versions of PaintShop Pro before the Windows 1903 update, this problem is being caused by the Windows updates. I have done searches to see if anyone else is having these problem since the Windows 10 version 1903 update. The answer is a resounding YES! They are having these and many other problems with this latest Windows update. I have searched Windows forums for answers, but they don't have a clue what this is all about. I can't use my PaintShop Pro software like this! Does anyone here have any suggestions?

Hello BC_Specht and welcome to the forum.
I've moved your post to this topic as it better suits your issue. You may want to read through this thread to see if one of the solutions posted works for you.
I can tell you from my own personal experience I saw this issue with PSP2018 on a Windows 7 computer and was able to resolve it by using the recommendation by ehume in the first post in this thread.
I've since moved to a Windows 10 computer and installed the 1903 update shortly after it was published. I have not had any issues with the yellow on either PSP2019 or PSP2020 but others have had the issue so it's not all Windows 10 1903 computers.

All I have to do in PSP2019 is open Monitor Calibration. Something happens when I do, and all the yellow disappears. Corel let me know they won't issue a fix, but said I could upgrade to 2020 and the yellow wouldn't be a problem (It's a Windows 10 update that causes it.). The workaround isn't difficult, so I'll stick with what I have for now. Hope it works for any of you, as well.

Re: Windows Backgrounds Turn Yellow
given all of the posts I have read in the past year or more - here and other places on the internet - where Windows 10 updates have broken one program or another for at least some users, I'm glad I resisted the original free offer to switch to Windows 10. Now just keeping my fingers crossed that I won't find my Windows 8.1 unable to work some day because of a forced malfunction from Microsoft. 8.1 might have a few quirks, but I have never had it refuse to run any of my programs or cause them to malfunction in some way.

Re: Windows Backgrounds Turn Yellow
Just go out on the Internet and you will find out how to downgrade for free. I downgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 for free. Don't know when the ability will go away. All I know is that MS will stop issuing security fixes at the end of this year.JoeB wrote:given all of the posts I have read in the past year or more - here and other places on the internet - where Windows 10 updates have broken one program or another for at least some users, I'm glad I resisted the original free offer to switch to Windows 10. The ironic thing is that this happened to me when I was using Win 7, the good OS. But this seems to be more of an issue among Win 10 users. I expect we will continue to see periodic outbreaks of trouble until Corel or MS figures out what's wrong and either fixes it or learns to avoid causing the problem.
And I hope that Win 8.1 continues to cause you no problems.
