If you open PSP and ANOTHER program at the same time, both in their separate window resized side by side (for example Word with a white empty page), does the color cast shift to the another program too ?

Can you capture the screenshot of color management setting in the PSP for us?
Location should be under "File\ Color Management\ Color Management".
Would like to see if the setting make any difference about this issue.

So if you normally leave it not enabled, and for some reason you're posting this screenshot showing it enabled, do you get the color cast with the setting shown in the screenshot, or with Enable Color Management unchecked (your normal situation), or in both situations?

I get the same problems with both situations -- enabled and disabled. I only enabled the option to make it easier to read.

Just a comment from the depth of my memory!
PSP has/had the ability to change the computer color management/settings.
You can open an image in two programs. Compare the colours. And then open the same image in PSP with color management turned on. You will see a difference. In all programs. The only way I found to overcome this was with a reboot and turning PSP's color management OFF. PSP even over rode custom computer settings!
If you search these forums you will find a number of threads on PSP's broken color management.

That is interesting. I'll look into it, but so far I haven't had those problems.

The problem is that when I start up PSP 2018, and only when I start up PSP 2018 all my windows turn yellow.

Interestingly, I cannot do a screenshot because the yellow does not register.

PSP7 (a JASC product), Aftershot 1 Pro, Aftershot 2 & 3 nonPro, Painter Essentials 5 and non-Corel image editors all do not invoke yellow windows. Ditto Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, OpenOffice Spreadsheet and OpenOffice Text.

I just want to make a point about timing. Before I open PSP2018, all windows are normal, including the Control Panel window that has the display-modifying functions. When I open PSP2018 nothing is different at first. But when the splash page first appears all white spaces turn to yellow. Windows remain yellow as PSP2018 continues to load. They stop when I get to "Calibrate color," then press "next." Everything then turns white.

I just installed PSPx9. Then I updated it to Update 4. I can start this app without the yellow windows showing up.

I just installed PSP2018 LocalHelp. When it starts PSP2018 still causes yellow windows.

PSPx9 32-bit does not cause yellow windows.

@ehume - your fix worked for me and I no longer get the yellow flash when launching PSP. I only had to do the fix one time. It sounds like you have to do it each time you launch the program. Is that correct?

What fix are you referring to? I haven't seen @ehume post that he no longer gets the yellow windows at all.

No. I get the yellow windows each time I turn on PSP 2018. I must then apply the workaround. Every time. Unless I leave the windows yellow. If I have applied the workaround, the white windows stay white . . . until I start PSP 2018 again.

The only difference between the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions is that the yellow starts at the beginning of the splash screen in the 64-bit, where it waits to the end in the 32-bit.

The workaround: Control Panel > Display > Calibrate color > Next (turns off yellow) > Cancel. Or: right-click on a blank part of your screen > Personalize > Display > Calibrate color > Next (turns off yellow) > Cancel.

Correct, ehume did not post that. I was asking ehume since I am no longer seeing the yellow screen painting after applying the fix and it sounds like ehume still has the issue.

When I did have the issue the yellow occurred while PSP was launching and then after it launched it would disappear on it's own.

I have not had problems with colour but early on while following this thread, I made some changes to the PSP color management and the colour went haywire on my monitor. When I opened PSP all the colours went wrong. To fix it I made sure I have basic color management turned on with my preferred monitor profile (from Spyder) selected. By itself that did not fix things. Then I went into Windows Color Management - this is in Windows 10 but I think the equivalent is available in Win7 - and set the same profile as the default for the monitor. I've had no problems with colour display since and these were the settings I would have had before fooling with PSP color management. I think the difference between what I did and eHume's workaround is using Color Management and setting the profile as opposed to using "Calibrate Color".

Based on the above I went into Windows Color Management. Whenever I selected anything other than the OS default I got a green screen -- worse than any yellow windows. I am glad your fix worked, and thanks for your idea.

I count myself lucky to have PSPx9. I will use that, as PSP 2018 has only conveniences, not must-use features for me. However, I still like PSP 2018 so I will launch it monthly to see if an Update fixes it. To all those who have contributed their experiences and suggestions: I thank you for your input.
