VS 2018 Multicam Edit Hangs

Post by calharkins »

Hello
Just purchased VS2018. I was trying to use multi-edit. I had 2 cameras and a sound file that I had stripped from camera 1. Each time I tried to start the edit I would get a cursor that was a turning circle and nothing more. I waited 30 minutes one time and still no luck. I did not get any kind of error message
Motherboard ROG Strix B350-F
AMD A12-9800 processor
16 gm ram
1 tb hard drive
Samsung monitor
Windows 10 Home edition

Any ideas?

Hi calharkins

And welcome to the forums.

You do not make it clear whether you are able to open the MCE
You said “Each time I tried to start the edit I would get a cursor that was a turning circle and nothing more.”

I assume you have opened the editor and added your video files and its whilst using the editor that things freeze.
Can you give some details of your video files.
From Video Studio library, add your files, right click and choose properties what are they, you can create an image of that panel to attach to your post.

If you were to add the 2 video files to MCE without the Audio file, does that help.
There is no need to strip the audio from camera 1 as that video could be used for the audio output

If you were to use video from the library samples, do you have a similar issue, if no then it would suggest your video files?
It may be a Smart Proxy issue, your video files may need to use Smart proxy files.
With your video clips in the library, right click each clip and choose Create Smart Proxy Files, this process can take a long while, view settings Smart Proxy Queue Manager for progress, once complete ty using MCE again.
