You should set your project properties to match your MTS video files
You should render your project to Same as Project Settings or Same as First clip, where the first clip is MTS.
The resultant file depending on duration should be below 4.3 Gb, that will fit to disc to burn a Avchd DVD, as I say approx. 30 minutes duration.

To burn the disc – start a new project
Share – Disc - Avchd adding your AVCHD video file after opening the burner module.

Complete the menu structure and burn the AVCHD DVD

I did all that, quite successfully, but it did take 3.25 Hours.

Not sure if the resultant file is any better than the Mp4 previously prepared.
