Editing UFOs?

Post by daniel »

Hello,

To overcome the bugs in Movie Factory, is it possible for one to create it's own UFO template within VS9 for menu creation? Templates can produce things that are not possible by customizing.
For instance the Clas04 template has buttons with feathered borders and different sizes in the same layout, which we can't do.

I can see the background from within PhotoExplorer and it says we can open it with PhotoImpact, but is there a program that allows complete creation of original .UFO? Photo Impact? What about moving backgrounds?

Hi

VS 9 can use a video for the background instead of a still image.

You can save your customised menu, which shows in the ‘my favourites’ folder.

If you want to create a menu from scratch you can use Photo Impact.

There are tutorials available thanks to Jerry

Hope this Helps

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for.

Would allow me to resize/place buttons (what VS9 can't do), while using moving menus (what VS9 will do but MF4 won't do, hangs when generating moving menus), for less than DVD Workshop price...

I'll download the trial a play a little (as in 30 days...)

I assume there's no other program (other companies) that will edit the UFOs?

On second thought: if I edited the menu in MF4 then saved it as a Favorite, and I copy that Favorite into VS9, would it work?
Someone tried this? If not I will.

Well I just did and it works! It opens in VS9 no problem and can even be further customized. I finally found a use for MF4, it can be a low-cost UFO editor, BUT limited to the templates available in MF4 and VS9 of course (a lot of them redundant evidently).

Considering MF4 can be bought at upgrade price if you have VS8 it's good news at the end.

Hi

VS 9 uses two favourite folders one for 4:3 and the other for 16:9.

Mine are located here :-

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\My Documents\Ulead VideoStudio\9.0\My Favorites

These 4:3 and 16:9 folders are created when you save the first customised menu.

You should be able to copy and paste any *.ufo file to these folders.

The default templates are here:-

C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\Template

You could in fact make your own folder by adding a line to the Template.ini
Such as MyMenu = MyMenu,7
Then create a new folder called MyMenu within the 4:3 folder.

There are some additional ufo’s in VS 8 extra content folder, and the older version installed programs.
I found VS 7 to have good templates.

Hope this Helps
