BluRay Menu

Post by wlopatin »

I have VS2018 and everything is working well and completed several DVD projects. Recently I decided to make BluRay's instead of DVD's. I installed a BR writer and purchased the VS2018 plug in and reburned my last project as BR. The BR menu choices are more limited but it worked and played on my BR player with no problems.

The issue is with the BR menu. Everytime I select something from the main menu or just move the pointer, the screen blinks and refreshes, taking about 2 seconds. I think this will confuse people and does not happen with purchased BR movies. It the menu choice I made, is it something with VS2018, or something else? Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance for responding.

Isn't anyone doing BluRay instead of DVD? Do your menu's look OK on the TV?

Hi
Sorry for any delay in my reply, over the past few days I have completed a project and burnt a Bluray Disc
I have four video files, each showing on the main menu, very rare do I use chapters.
I have set the navigation to return to menu so after playing the selected title I can then choose another.
I do not see any problems in playing the disc, as soon as I hit play the selected title plays without problem
There is a very short delay when I hear the disc crank up, at the same time the Menu is fading out to play the movie. By short delay I mean less than 1 second.

If I select another title the indicator simply moves up and down the list, the menu background remains stable.

I have to say that most are now saving the movie as a data file to USB to play on their TV’s. rather than burning a disc.

Anyway I do not see any problems with my playback, never really taken notice except to reply here.

I have compared my TV playback with my pc using Corel WinDVD
When I hit play the menu fades out, the screen goes black for a split second, then the movie plays.
Using the BD player, the menu fades out, then the movie starts to play, no black flicker there does appear to be a little pause, but that is only whilst the menu disappears / fades to movie.

So maybe your pause is related to the Motion Menu settings?
Not enough delay to cause me or anyone else concern

Thanks for the answers as I am very new to BR. The issue I noted was present when I played the disk in a BR player/TV and also when I played the disk on my computer using VLC. It happens whenever I move the pointer to select which file I want to play; there were 3 files and no chapter points. I will try my next disk without the motion settings to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks again.

Hi

I normally create a Bluray Folder, (BDMV) I can play that to check quality, then use ImgBurn to burn the folder to disc, avoids some of those coasters.

Thanks, I generally do the same for DVD but I'm new to BR. Either way, the issue existed even on the computer folder because I tried that using VLC. I am about finished with another project, so I will try to not use motion menu's and see if that helps.

Re: BluRay Menu

So I finally finished another project and I created a BluRay menu and burned onto a BluRay disk. This time with no motion in the menu's but I had the same issue. When the disk turns on, there is the main menu screen showing the 3 films that I put there. If I want to watch the 2nd film, I use the arrow keys on the BluRay player remote. When I press the down arrow, the screen goes blank for about 2 seconds and then opens with the same menu but the 2nd film is now highlighted. I can then press the play key on the remote and it plays. In fact, the entire disk plays very well and I am very pleased with the higher quality video I get over the old standard DVD's. But this 2 second blanking whenever a menu item is changed is bothersome. I am guessing it is something about the way VS2018 creates the bluray menu but I am not really sure.

Does anyone have the same issue? Is it something I am doing wrong? Any help or advice will be appreciated.
Thanks.
