Hi,
I am a new user of Studio 9. I want to create diaporama can you tell me what the best format that I have to use to create my project AVI or MPEG-2.The diaporama will be shown on a TV. At the same time can you give me more information about the differences between AVI and MPEG-2.
Thanks for your answers.

AVI makes larger files of material intended for further editing. You can tweak and add to them without losing definition.
MPEG is a compressed format intended for final burning and distribution.
DVD players will need MPG at the end but you should work as long as you can in AVI/DV format until final rendering for disc production.
Do a search in this forum you will find lost of posts about this.

If your diaporama does not use video material then obviously your project properties will be MPG since that is what you will need ultimately.
No intermediate AVI version should be produced.
AVI/DV is for people editing video (movie) files.

Hi jcmmarin,

You have not said what your source is for you video files, whether from DV camera or from DVD camera or from a capture card.

As HD space is not a major concern for me, I always set my project to the format that my video is captured in. For my MiniDV Camera, this is a *.AVI file of DV Type1 format. I prefer DV Type 1 over DV Type 2, only because I can send them back the the Camera very easily, should I want to do this. When I create a DVD disk, I try not to go below 6000 Bit Rate. And because it is usually quicker to render, I use Constant Bit Rate. If the clip is short, I will set the bit rate to 9000 CBR.

For Video I capture using a TV Tuner Card or Analogue Video Capture, I use MPEG2, PAL 720x576, and a Constant Bit Rate (CBR) of some where between 6000 and 9000 (ie 6000 CBR) depending on how long the video is going to be that I am capturing. Then I create a disk of the same settings.

For Audio, I have no real concern between using either MPEG Audio or Dolby Audio.

This is much the same as the above comment, and I hope this helps a little.
