Just wondering what might be the cause of the "Time Remapping" function only selecting a 'middle portion' of the video clip, when a clip is clicked on, then the Time Remapping panel opened...
((see Example Image #1 "Corel VideoStudio Pro- Time Remapping function only selecting 'middle part' of video clip (crop)"))
I tried this with multiple clips from different sources, and the "Time Remapping" window always seems to pre-select a middle portion of the clip by Default, and when more of the clip is chosen (eg. moving the Start/In point to the actual beginning of the clip), the Time Remapping feature ceases to function properly.
Is this a bug of some sort? Or am I missing a step somewhere? (VideoStudio 2018 Ultimate 21.2.0.113)
Thanks for any ideas/input...
Edit:
I also found that the "Speed/Time-Lapse" was being greyed out on many clips, when right-clicking on a video clip in the Timeline...
((see Example Image #2 "Corel VideoStudio Pro - Speed_Time-Lapse function 'greyed out', not available on right-click of video clips"))
I have used this function in the past (older VS versions), but for some reason is it greyed-out/locked? (No reason is given in a Tooltip, popup, or message, etc)
This is odd, as other clips show it - yet neither of these seem to be working properly(??) - just wondering why this might be occurring...[/i]

Have you read the User Guide pages 73 & 74, may explain the correct procedure

Re: "Time Remapping" only selects middle portion of video cl
Thank you for your input - but although I have seen those instructions on the Time Remapper - as I state, the Time Remapper does not appear to function properly...RobertOZ wrote:Have you read the User Guide pages 73 & 74, may explain the correct procedure
For example, dragging the Scrubber ('indicator') to the beginning of the clip (or clicking the HOME button to go to the beginning of the clip), then clicking the Mark In button, nothing happens.
Eg. clicking on the white scrolling area, or the thumbnail preview 'of the changes' simply "resets" everything...
(This is with a New Project and a Built-In Sample Video Clip)
Even setting a Speed and clicking on the "Play Time Mapping Result", results in merely a 'normal playback' in the Preview area; aka nothing has happened (it plays back at 100% speed in the Preview Area).
Edit:
Playing with the Time Remapping again, I have found this:
To set the MARK IN at the beginning of a video clip, after opening the Time Remapping
- clicking on the HOME button (to take the Scrubber to the beginning of the clip) and clicking the MARK IN button does not work (does not keep it as the 'start' of the function)
- manually dragging the start of the video event in the smaller, time-coded thumbnail region, extending the highlighted portion this way, and clicking the MARK IN button does work (it keeps it as the 'start' of the function)
Both of the above steps are in regard to simply marking the beginning of the clip as Mark In
After getting the Time Remapper to finally 'keep' a Mark In and Mark Out region, the Time Remapping function does appear to work - but it must be done in the order just above

Re: "Time Remapping" only selects middle portion of video cl
Hi
Yes I have noticed that the default selection shows the centre section.
To extend the selection to the entire clip first create another selection from Home, just a few frames long, then delete the right hand section, navigate to End to fill the selection.
1 / Open Time Remapping
2 / Home button – press square brackets or keyboard F3 mark-in
3 / move curser a little right – Square bracket or F4 Mark out
4 / this creates a clip starting at home
5 / delete second / original clip
6 / navigate to End - Square bracket or F4 Mark out
7 / full clip selected.
There are of course seperate tools, Speed Timelapse, Variable Speed, Freeze Frame that can be applied individually.
Time remapping uses these features in a single panel, I find it a little awkward to use.
Besides the original clips being replaced with a VSP for me makes it confusing. Once applied I do not see a way to change the settings, other than adding the VSP from the library to the timeline.
Not worth the effort and to complicated.
Me! I stick to applying the separate speed features.

Thank you very much for the little Workaround! I will use this for now if I try to use Time Remapper...lata wrote:Hi

Perhaps the Time Remapper utility is in its' infancy still. I see what you mean by 'it tries to use all three functions in one'. Perhaps in the next version of VSP, it will be more complete.
I will use your advice and try the other utilities.
Thanks again - I appreciate your efforts very much!
Take care,
