Sorting folders pspx5

Hello hope someone can help...I recently had to format my computer and after re installing paint shop pro x5 under the mange tab..Im not able to sort by folder as in newest, date,file name etc. It worked fine before the format, any ideas what I need to change to make that happen.

Start PSP while maintaining Shift key down until confirmation. Sometimes, it helps...

Thank You for your help but that didnt work for me, I tried a dozen times...got the confirmation but still not able to sort the folders
any other ideas please

Right-click on the PSP icon and select Run as administrator.
Are you logging as different users on your PC ?

that didnt work either and no not logging in as another user. I recommended psp to a friend of mine and she bought the program about 6 months ago and has the same problem, so frustrating I appreciate your help, I just dont know what else to do....maybe uninstall program and then reinstall??

Not really sure what you mean by the bold text.
When I look at and try the Sort By, I see :

1. Is Sort by highlighted or greyed out?
2. When you click on the arrow do you get a popup? Are the items highlighted or greyed out.?

Can you download and install a trial version of PSP 2018 and see if the Sort by in Manage mode works there?

EDIT: just saw that you had added to your post and the arrow options are greyed out so am guessing that when you click that arrow nothing happens.
Does anything change if you switch to Preview so that the Sort By and images appear as a strip at the bottom?
Does anything change if you change to a different folder?
Have you applied all the Updates - there were 3. So that Help > About shows 15.3.0.8

Thank You !!!! the updates took care of the problem, its working now. Funny the update button within the program kept saying no updates available..I went to corel site and downloaded all 3 updates restarted program and all is good. Thank You soooo much !!!
