PSP 2018 opens hundreds of browsers windows

Post by Steve T »

I have only PSP opened and it randomly opens my closed browser and opens hundreds of help screen tabs. The largest number was over 1000. This is beyond frustrating. I'm hoping someone can help me get this under control.

It is the first time I read something like this.
But, I see you have only 500 mb HDD and IMHO, it is not enough.
Could you confirm your drive capacity ?

Which browser do you use? And have you temporarily tried making another browser the default, and see if the same thing occurs with it? (I use Chrome and don't get the problem you are facing.)

If that doesn't work try switching to Internet Explorer, which I believe is Corel's default preference for some of their stuff.

AND, while not an answer to your issue, I note that you have lots of stuff in your profile that indicates that you do not know the specs requested by the various fields in the profile page. I'm a firm believer that it's helpful to have the info about your computer available for various reasons, and troubleshooting is a main one.

Here's a link to Belarc Advisor, a free program I have used for years that does not take much space, doesn't report stuff to the internet, and is about as safe to use as you could ask for. The plus is it does a very good analysis of your computer - including finding many of you program's installation serial codes for you to make note of for future issue - as well as letting you know all of your system configuration identities (hard drives, motherboard, external ports, etc.) that you could want. It would certainly help you to fill out your profile more accurately. :-) Here's a link to it if interested:

I will second that about Belarc Advisor. Great little program. Another is Treesize
https://www.jam-software.com/treesize_free/
which is good for analysing your drives to find out where memory is being hogged allowing you to examine and delete or transfer to an external hard drive.
And dupeguru
http://dupeguru.DoNOTUSEfindmysoft.com/
for finding duplicate files
Now after that adbreak :D :D :D
What is the OP doing that brings on the opening of the help files?
You don't have a sticky F1 key do you?
Are there any consistent steps you do that will regularly cause that problem - you said random, but is it truly random?

EDIT:
Has been brought to my attention that the site I gave contained many links to malware - adverts and other non applicable sites . I saw that as a review site to tell people about the program rather than a definite download site.
I always hover my cursor over links and look at where they are going and if it has nothing to do with what I am after ignore it. Many Softonic site pages are examples of this.

This site for those interested seems to be the correct site with download links:

Thank you for the link to the program for my computer details. I updated the info.

I tried 3 browsers with the same results. I just downloaded the AVG virus protection program and ran it, clean. I did a full McAfee scan, clean as well.

Even though the scan said the computer was free of any virus, ever since the scan, the program has been running normally. I don't understand it, but I'm glad it seems to be back to normal.
Thank you all for your time and suggestions.

Wow; thanks. I downloaded and installed that. I'm not sure if it has anti-virus features; I gather it's okay even if you have other anti-virus software installed? At the moment, I'm using Symantec's Norton Security, having ditched AVG for being too big and klonky (if that's a word). A few months ago my computer locked up irretrievably, when I'd added Malware Bytes professional; had to get a tech to fix it; he returned to the free version of Malware Bytes.

It seems Steve T is currently doing better; we're in touch on a facebook group, "Everything Paint Shop Pro."
