In travel projects I often use the painting creator to markup up a map showing where events have been - a spot or line moving on the map showing location and route. I also recall a filter which did that sort of thing in a more detailed manner - eg, instead of a moving spot, a car icon travelling the roads.
For a new project I decided to be a bit more adventureous than normal and use that filter with car, train etc icons - but a search thru the filters doesn't show it. Cnnot remember the filter name, so I'd appreciate some advice as to which filter it is, or may have been.

Re: Background markup with travel icons
That's the one.
Is there any way to import icons? I need a bus and a train, as well as those already there.
And it seems a bit touchy. I wound up clicking the icon button before closing the route sequence down and it seemed like it had frozen. Click in the map space freed it all up

Yes David - you can import your own icons and use whatever drawings you have - for best results your symbol needs to be on a transparent background or else you get the rest of it's background as well which doesn't look to professional - I have had success with transparent tif 's but I cannot get transparent png 's to work
After you have drawn your line then move to the "symbol" tab - in the top box under the words "import image" - click on that and browse to a Windows folder where you have stored your images
made this demo a couple of years back - it should help - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JDhSa36vUI
just to test here is a transparent tif of a small train
