MyDVD Version

Post by WarningU2 »

The version of MyDVD with X9 has been flagged as old by some security software I have and a risk. I'm assuming I need to upgrade to the latest version Corel Video Studio (2018?) to get the latest version of My DVD?

I am pretty certain you cannot obtain stand alone versions of MyDVD they only come as part of a complete package with VideoStudio

My current version which came with VS2018 is 2.0.1.18 - what version do you currently have

The fact that's it old prima facie doesn't necessarily make it a risk - security suites usually use rules for this sort of thing and it is likely that the report you got is just a reflection of a rule that says "old therefore a risk". In many apps - especially for business software - it may be old but has no obvious upgrade or replacement, OR the original vendor has been taken over or gone out of business and there never will be a new version. In this sort of situation you have to live with it.

I've used MyDVD running under win7 for years (various versions with at least 4 different versions of VS, including X9) and not had any security alert (using AVG security) for it.

What security suite are you running?
