"ease in" or "ease out" of a "pan & zoom" key frame?

Post by Wretched Git »

Hello --

I've got VS Pro x8. When panning on a still image (using custom Pan & Zoom), I'd like to "ease in" to the stopping point of the pan (e.g., the last key frame), as you can in Adobe Premiere. Is this possible?

Thanks much!

The Pan and Zoom uses Keyframes
If you add a keyframe at say 2 seconds and set same as first keyframe that will pause the effect

Tip
right click a keyframe for copy and paste options.

Right, I do that -- but what I'm talking about is different. I'm talking about having the zoom slow down slightly before it reaches the stopping point (defined by the keyframe). That way you don't get that abrupt, mechanical stop. Apparently Adobe Premiere has that capability as an "ease in" effect that you can set at the keyframe.

Corel does have an "ease in" effect when using "Customize Motion." I'm just hoping there's some way to achieve a similar thing with Pan & Zoom.

Hi

The latest version of Video Studio 2018 has updated the Pan & Zoom to include an EaseIn EaseOut feature.
Not use it myself so cannot say how much effect it has.

If X8 Customise Motion does the job is there a problem using that to create the Pan and Zoom

Post updated

Just tried P& Z with 2018, there is an EaseIn but not Out????
Does not seem to have much effect, especially when I compared to Customise Motion that works well.

The point is Wretched Git you are not restricted to only one keyframe at the beginning and/or end of a zoom sequence - add 4 - 5 or 6 at the beginning/end and set each one to a different zoom so that between wide apart ones the zoom is quick - but if the zoom then meets say 6 with only a couple of percent changes between them it will slow to whatever you want/set

Ah, I see what you mean -- it's a little more fiddly than an automatic feature, but I'll give it a try -- thank you!

Or perhaps it really has now been implemented as an automatic feature, as the post above suggests? I'll try to update and see.

Well, I've just downloaded VS-2018, and although the Pan & Zoom editor now has an "ease in" checkbox (but no "ease out" one), it doesn't appear to have any effect.

Full reply, I agree the ease in does not affect the pan?
